I haven't been following this thread closely, however I saw the question about waiting 5 years to marry. I had a couple that had kids for 4 or 5 years before getting married. They were 1st cousins and it took that long for the dispensation to go through. I don't know if that's the case with your couple or not. Sandra, I know of a Furtado's line which is connected to Moniz Vieira and Bettencourt in Fenais da Ajuda in that time period. Captain Braz Furtado de Medeiros married Maria Moniz Vieira and I think that she may be connected to Bárbara Moniz de Bettencourt.
