Re: [AZORES-Genealogy] Re: Lagoa (Rosario) Translation & Research Help - LUIZ

2015-05-23 Thread danandmaria
Joanne,

Hopefully you see it now.

here it is again:
MANOEL LUIZ in other records (1876) he is named Manuel Luiz da Costa, pescador
& MARIA DO CARMO

LUIS DA COSTA Caichinha _in another record spelled as Caixinha_ meaning small
box. This nickname is still currently used in Rosario.

Maternal grandparents appear as Manoel Martins and Maria _ Ricarda _

I will be happy to to have a look at your file. Is your Grota line also from
Lagoa?

Joanne,

see my notes in red in your original message. I do have a few more children of
Manuel Luiz da Costa Caixinha and Maria do Carmo. Let me know if you want to
compare notes.

Looking at the other records, the non-use of the word 'legitimo', does not
appear to mean anything. It's just the format they use. Neto in this case is
not part of the name, it means grandchild=grandson.Sachinha is undoubtedly a
nickname that means hoe, as in the tool that turns the soil.

WOW! Thanks, JR and Maria for all the info. Unfortunately, nothing came across
in red on my end of your email, Maria, so I’m not sure what you wanted me to
know. I would love to have more information on this line but especially if the
surname changes as we go further back in time so let’s compare notes. I’d be
happy to supply you with descendants of which I am one.

Thanks again!

2015-05-23 Thread JR
Yes, I see the s's are more complete. Since some of you know it to be
Cachinha, that's what it is. The other Caixinha is another spelling
variant. But you better compare notes with Maria as she seems to know all
about this line.
