Of course if you just happen to be in the vicinity and want to meet some pretty cool people, then come along too. It's less of a XSL steering group and more about getting people with the right skills available to help out those without. And the ensuing benefits which might potentially arise of course. [backstage] Hack Day - invites our out
Fantastic news! The first lot of invites for Hack Day have gone out, if you've applied you should be hearing from us today or over the next week or so, just shy of 300 invites went out today and there's a couple more 100 to follow. It's getting a bit exciting now with only four weeks to go, so if you want to come along I suggest you get your name down ASAP to make sure you're in the next round of invites - you can do that over at http://hackday.org If you've already had your invite (or even just signed up) then let the world know with these very funky badges - http://www.hackday.org/badges/ - gotta love the colours! m ___ Matthew Cashmore Development Producer BBC Future Media Technology, Research and Innovation BC4B5, Broadcast Centre, Media Village, W12 7TS T:020 8008 3959(02 83959) M:07711 913241(072 83959)
[backstage] Hack Day - PHP team?
Well, the first round of place confirmations for Hack Day have gone out, and I'm lucky enough to be in - so, does anyone want to form a PHP team? I'd go for something more hip like Ruby on Rails, but I figured that for speedy developing it's best to stick with the language I'm most comfortable with. I'm generally interested in making entertaining hacks rather than massively useful ones - games and the like. Cheers, -- Tom Scott - Sent via the backstage.bbc.co.uk discussion group. And Flickr is just pointless toss*. Jonathan - if you're likely to be at the Google Developers' love-in on the 31st, I'll quite happily discuss the difference between useability and accessibilty with you over a pint**. Cheers, Rich. * And I wait to be contradicted Too late. I read that about FLICKR in the Register, so it must be true! ** That goes for anyone else who fancies a pint and an argument. :-) Stick the details on Upcoming? http://upcoming.yahoo.com/ :-) Gordo -- Think Feynman/ http://pobox.com/~gordo/ [EMAIL PROTECTED]/// - Sent via the backstage.bbc.co.uk discussion group. Re: [backstage] Hack Day - PHP team?
I've just completed the first version of an online cartoon generator: http://take.corrugationstreet.com/Takeaway_cartoon/ It uses BBC RSS feeds to build captions/ speech. Would this be interesting for hack day? Maybe to develop it further? thanks, Dave On 18/05/07, Tom Scott [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Well, the first round of place confirmations for Hack Day have gone out, and I'm lucky enough to be in - so, does anyone want to form a PHP team? Re: [backstage] attendin' Hackday
Okay - in an effort to cut off the massive flow of I'm attending, want to make a team traffic that I've already contributed to - and because there seems to be no other official discussion routes! - I've set up http://hackdaylondon.pbwiki.com as a strictly unofficial Wiki site. Hopefully it'll be a useful discussion point as it is for BarCamp - there's a starting template for team lists and interests, useful links, etc. etc. It'll probably get overtaken by an official discussion board at some point, but it should do in the meantime! -- Tom gareth rushgrove wrote: Yeah, Some good news! RE: [backstage] attendin' Hackday
argh that page makes me wish I was going. hackday clearly needs flash/ flex! JC, I'm clearly missing something, but how is the web page you link to navigable by keyboard only? I had to use my mouse. Tab, space, enter and the arrows - all standard conventional access keys produce no response from the page. What's the trick here? -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] on behalf of Tom Scott Sent: Fri 18/05/2007 12:38 PM To: backstage@lists.bbc.co.uk Subject: Re: [backstage] attendin' Hackday Okay - in an effort to cut off the massive flow of I'm attending, want to make a team traffic that I've already contributed to - and because there seems to be no other official discussion routes! - I've set up http://hackdaylondon.pbwiki.com as a strictly unofficial Wiki site.
