RE: [backstage] iPlayer on Freesat in November.
There are none currently in the market however the Freeview HD specification includes an ethernet port. Obviously there are none currently in the market yet, however there will be some soon - expect a big rush to market for the World Cup next year. Interesting. It is clearly an updated version of the Netgem Iplayer device http://www.fetchtv.dslshop.co.uk/details.aspx?idProduct=1393 looks like they have their own subscription service for additional downloads. and includes statement saying that it can get stuff from BBC iPlayer catch up on shows you have missed watching BBC iPlayer Also claims: Multi-stream - up to 2 SD or HD simultaneous decoded streams No obvious statement that it can play the upcoming Freeview HD content but I presume that this is the plan. Re: [backstage] iPlayer on Freesat in November.
I've got one (though I've not signed up to to the VOD service). You can get them for around 30 quid on ebay. The best thing about it is that you can pull recordings off of it over the network (no DRM needed to enable this sort of functionality either ;-) It's also useful as UPNP network media player. I doubt it will work with Freeview HD, simply because it doesn't have a DVB-T2 chip. I would guess a future upgraded model will. It's really, really irratating that none of the iPlayer stuff understands the Windows Media keys. Even Spotify manages that. 2009/11/10 Andrew Bowden andrew.bow...@bbc.co.uk Interesting. Combine it with http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=186127 Hisense 1080p HD TV Media Player - plays just about every format I use. Now that would interest me.
