2011-08-24 Thread Hugo Letemplier
Hi

When I run a Job, I would like to automaticaly upgrade the job to a
full if the estimate was big ( maybe a certain percentage of the
initial full ).

How can I do that, I was thinking with python on the job start Event ?

Can I do that in a before job command ? I may need to cancel the first
job and automaticaly run a new one?

Thank you

Try

Client Run Before Job = "sh -c 'ls -la > /tmp/test.log'"

Yes I know. AND I have NOT intention to run two Directors same time,
they just sync, and if one machine crashes on site A, I got another
one warm on site B to recover in few seconds. But something gone wrong
and secondary started bacula director while primary still ok. After 4
years using bacula (and sync) it's first time this happen...
And what makes my problem not so obvious is because due the sync, name
of machines are the same, then, all logs look like erros and
scheduling, starting jobs, etc, have same director name.

Hi,

from the documentation for "RunScript" [1]:

In addition, the command string is parsed then fed to the OS, which
means that the path will be searched to execute your specified
command, but there is no shell interpretation, as a consequence, if
you invoke complicated commands or want any shell features such as
redirection or piping, you must call a shell script and do it inside
   that script.

Christian Manal

Hi

Problem in the symbol of ">".
File /tmp/test.log is not created.
Running only the first part of the command "ls -la".
"> /tmp/test.log" not worked.

Config file:

Client Run Before Job = "ls -la > /tmp/test.log"
}

Console log:

fd JobId 32287: shell command: run ClientRunBeforeJob "ls -la >

You can. As Adrian says you should be able to use a
ClientRunBeforeJob directive. This will tell the client to run a
script which should be a shell script that checks for the presence of
a drive. If it does not detect the drive, exit with exit code 1 and
the job will not run. If it does detect the drive, exit with exit
code 0 and the backup job will run. I missed the previous portion of
this thread, but I'm assuming this is a Linux client that is mounting
a drive. If that's the case, then you're still functionally getting
an incremental but because the directory was empty last time (when the
drive was not mounted) but now has the entire drive's contents in it.
The incremental job is dutifully backing up all changed data from the
last incremental which happens to be all of the data on the drive now
that Bacula can see it. Merely detecting the drive with a
ClientRunBeforeJob script will solve that problem entirely.

If you have many drives you interchange in this way, I would recommend
making your script take an argument so you only have to maintain a
single script that can check any drive you want as dictated by the
job.

If you do this I don't see why you would need 2 filesets and 2 jobs.
It should work just fine with one of each unless that is addressing
something I missed from previous emails.
