Bacula is currently very high up the list but there’s one make or break requirement, which is tape backups. Due to the number of systems we need to backup, we need a decent sized tape library (40+ tapes) that can handle 3 or 4 tape drives and LTO 6 tapes. Can anyone recommend suitable hardware that will work with Bacula without too much swearing and cursing being required? We are running a Quantum Neolib 24s with one LTO-9 drive. You can use this lib and install up to 2 drives (LTO what you like). I would definetly recommend to use LTO-9 drives, as the money you spend is easily and fast recovered by the number of tapes you need, and you will probably use it for a long time. Going with an old tape just does not make sense. However, the Neolib can use different tapes so you can also start with an "older" internal drive and upgrade later. As the Neolib has two cardridges, you can install different tapes, too. Bacula works fine with it, if you hack the changer script. There will be a new one probably from Bill in the near future that has more options and works out of the box, but for now you just have to comment out a time out with the Neolib. The Neo is availabel with up to 80 drives, so plenty of space here. Cheers T ___ Bacula-users mailing list Bacula-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bacula-users

Hello, new tape library with LTO-6 can be hard to buy today. Maybe LTO-7 drives would be the way to go, or look for something used, or rather switch to LTO-9 or LTO-8, because raw data capacity is pretty cheap and it is nice to have 5 to 7 times bigger data capacity using the same number of slots and 2 times better speed. Further, 3 or 4 tape drives needs something from midrange rather than entry level. There are many products. I expect that all of them or atleast most of them would be just to buy, install, connect, use and pay support ;o) You can look at HP StoreEver MSL3040, Quantum Scalar i3, Overland Tandberg NEOxl 40, Qualstar Q48 Autoloader or Q40 Library, StorageTek SL150 (my case), and certainly more. -- Rudolf Cejka https://www.fit.vut.cz/~cejkar Brno University of Technology, Faculty of Information Technology Bozetechova 1/2, 612 00 Brno, Czech Republic ___ Bacula-users mailing list Bacula-users@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/bacula-users
[Bacula-users] baculabackupreport script error
I edited the script to uncomment my db password. When I run the baculabackup report with bash /etc/bacula/scripts/baculabackupreport I get an error "psql: error: invalid integer value "" for connection option port" If dbpass is commented out, as is by default, then no error occurs. I am using bacula v11, psql. Perhaps my command line is incorrect? [Bacula-users] Delete files from catalog & volume
Hi all, We are using Bacula 9.4.4. with disk based backup. We have some old archive backups with huge disk consumption. Now that we are facing disk space issue, we started analyzing the disk space consumed by the volumes of the archive backups and realized that some unwanted files (such as core dump) were also backed up inadvertently. The situation is corrected for the current year's backups by putting exclude rules in the fileset. But we need to free up disk space now from old archives. So my question is: Is it possible to remove files from old backup jobs by way of pruning the file records from Catalog and deleting the files from the corresponding volumes.
