Re: [Bacula-users] Error syncing volume "IMS0502L6" on device "DRIVE3"

2024-05-20 Thread Marcin Haba
Hello Jose,

Many thanks for letting us know that the SyncOnClose directive is missing
in Bacularis. At the moment I opened a feature request for that in the
Bacularis project on GitHub:

https://github.com/bacularis/bacularis-app/issues/45

Best regards,
Marcin Haba (gani)

2024-05-20 Thread Jose Alberto
I will do it by hand directly in the .conf, I do not see the device option
in Bacularis.

Thanks

I usually don't like setting fixed block sizes, but letting Bacula
determine. But Maximum Block Size = 1 MB or even a little bit more
should be safe for LTO-9.

You can use the btape speed test to verify the best values.

The File Size also exerts a role in performance, a trade-off if I
remember well between backup and restore speeds.

Hmm, I ended up with Maximum Block Size = 262144 for my LTO-6, which is
FC, YMMV using another connect.

insane amount of time: source to backup are complex dirs, with millions of

Is the ZFS local? Does it have ZFS compression or dedup enabled? I
wouldn't use those options for data spooling. You have to also consider
the number of disks:

You can test Disks reading and writing capacity with hdparm, dd/iostat.

And network with iperf:

I wouldn't also use Bacula compression software compression for tapes.

Probably better network and better/more disks, such as Enterprise Grade
NVMe/SSDs.

And a sensible amount of RAM - millions of files on ZFS should not be a
problem - unless you're doing it on a system with 32G of RAM or the like.

Oh, and is it Solaris, BSD, or Linux?

To manually remove the disk volumes, and associated job and file
entries, do a delete operation. Easily done in Bacularis or baculum, (I
haven't done it in bconsole though I'm sure it's doable there too). I
would have a catalog backup restored BEFORE I performed the delete
operation, and I would be very careful to select the correct volumes to
delete.

I have to balance things now until we have a new tape drive.

disk runs full ...

Is there an easy way to delete all volumes belonging to a specific Job-ID?

For now I looked it up in Bacularis: check which jobs are on which
(disk-based) volume, rm the volume in Bacularis, then rm the
corresponding file from disk (in the shell).

OK so far, I am just curious if there is a clever way for that in Bacula.
