Depends on how you configure it, but roughly the VPN is just a network
link. Set the route for the remote client to be over that link (the
VPN) and let basic networking take care of the rest :) You really
need to follow those details up on the OpenVPN mailing list (after
having read the fine manual).

Yes - routed mode (instead of bridged mode).

Just use routed mode. I've set this up many times and it "just
works". The HowTo's on the OpenVPN site will walk you through this.

Did you see my reply to your thread titled "/SBIN and mount command"?
You need to ensure that the bacula user is allowed to mount the
specified device on the specified mount point.

I've found in the past that, in some situations, offline will work
(and old FreeBSD documentation agrees with this):

mt -f /dev/TAPE rewind
mt -f /dev/TAPE offline

Or combine the 2 into a single command:

mt -f /dev/TAPE rewoffl

Just keep in mind that you're increasing your risk by using only a
single tape. When that tape fails you lose everything. Even if your
budget is limited it's better to have at least 2 tapes.

I had a quick go, but the default install doesn't seem to work
(presumably related to UAC). By running the client with the "Run as
Administrator" option it did seem to work, but that's impractical so I
stopped at that point.

Others may have had more time to spend on it than I have.

My experience is that, as long as you're not using RAID5, they're
fantastic. The onboard RAID5 implementation however performs *very*
badly. Strangely the onboard RAID50 implementation performs just as
well as all the other options (including the misnamed RAID0).

Worth doing some simple performance benchmarking (dd if=/dev/sdX
of=/dev/sdX1 count=200) to get a rough indicator. Also worth
watching the WIO field of top to see if you're heavily I/O bound.

I've seen that done on another list, including direct pointers to the
section of the FAQ that details how to report problems.

I think maybe one person has actually provided even the majority of
the requested information right off (and nobody all of it). Even
people who harp on about having read the FAQ provide little of the
requested information. The most common statement is "I know I should
upgrade, but...".

So, in my experience it may help, but I really doubt it. The sad fact
of life is that most people either don't read any of it (probably
because they're in too much of a rush to get their post in so they can
get help) or don't understand what they read (either language barriers
or a lack of a common knowledge space).

Roughly, yes. Though you'll want to add the missing quote after
"C:/Program Files

Why not take the reverse approach of only backing those up, or are you
