[Bacula-users] GPG signature checking!

2007-12-08 Thread Zakai Kinan
Is anyone else checking the .sig file against the
tar.gz source file? I can't check it against any
keyserver. Can someone tell me what keyserver
actually has the info these days?

TIA,

Re: [Bacula-users] Need help installing bacula-fd on Debian

2007-11-14 Thread Zakai Kinan
I don't use the binary version of Bacula. Simply
download the source code - untar it - first comand =
./configure --client-only - second command = make &&
make install.  That is it.

[Bacula-users] Test bare metal restore problem!

2007-03-15 Thread Zakai Kinan
The CDROM created by bacula-rescue-2.0.0 is unable to
see the drives on a server running FC4. It is a Dell
PowerEdge 2400 with the MegaRAID card. I was under
the impression that the CDROM would recognize all raid
setup/cards if it was made with them. Was I way off?
The manual says nothing of the kind that I do admit.
Any  ideas?

[Bacula-users] check_bacula clarifications!

2007-03-08 Thread Zakai Kinan
I got bacula-2.0.3 and configured and installed
check_bacula. Now I am getting this error - BACULA
CRITICAL - Cannot authenticate to FileDaemon: 1999
Authorization failed. I am not using a md5-hash in my
configuration. I convert my password to a md5-hash,
but it does not work. What am I doing wrong?

[Bacula-users] Bacula upgrade from 1.38.9 -> 2.0.2

2007-02-28 Thread Zakai Kinan
I am getting the following error after the upgrade:

26-Feb 22:09 bacula-dir:  Fatal error: Version error
for database "bacula". Want

ed 9, got 10
26-Feb 22:09 bacula-dir: Fatal error: Could not open
database "bacula".
26-Feb 22:09 bacula-dir:  Fatal error: Version error
for database "bacula". Want

ed 9, got 10
26-Feb 22:09 bacula-dir ERROR TERMINATION
Please correct configuration file:
/etc/bacula/bacula-dir.conf

This error only occurs after I run the
update_mysql_tables script. If I restore the old
database schema bacula seems to work. I don't trust
it because the release notes state that the update
must be run after the upgrade. I did some research,
but I did not get anything meaningful. Does anyone
have any ideas?

TIA,

ZK

[Bacula-users] Restore problem!

2006-08-22 Thread Zakai Kinan
I tried to restore a directory and I get the
following;

  Client: BTL
  Start time: 22-Aug-2006 12:21:20
  End time:   22-Aug-2006 12:33:40
  Files Expected: 1
  Files Restored: 1
  Bytes Restored: 112
  Rate:   0.0 KB/s
  FD Errors:  0
  FD termination status:  OK
  SD termination status:  OK
  Termination:Restore OK

22-Aug 12:33 backup-dir: Begin pruning Jobs.
22-Aug 12:33 backup-dir: No Jobs found to prune.
22-Aug 12:33 backup-dir: Begin pruning Files.
22-Aug 12:33 backup-dir: No Files found to prune.

The directory structure got restored, but not the
contents. Does anyone have any clue?

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula backup error!

2006-08-14 Thread Zakai Kinan
I see the error with show warnings; as well in the
mysql cli, but I am still not sure what it means
because I have space on the hardrive. The storage
engine can sometimes refer to myisam or innodb. The
maximum storage on these are in the terabytes so that
is why I am still confused.

any more thoughts would be appreciated!

It is fixed. There was a one letter case issue in the
media type. I sanitized the info before I post it so
the info below was not the error.

That was a typo. I have 15 other clients and they all

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula error!

2006-07-19 Thread Zakai Kinan
this is the relevant config in the bacula-sd.conf:

Device {
  Name = JTStorage
  Media Type = FT
  Archive Device = /media/BIG/jt
  LabelMedia = yes; # lets Bacula
label unlabeled media
  Random Access = Yes;
  AutomaticMount = yes; # when device
opened, read it
  RemovableMedia = no;
  AlwaysOpen = no;
}

That is the frustrating part about the error because
the correct configuration is in the bacula-sd.conf
file.

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula 1.38.9 installation!

2006-05-27 Thread Zakai Kinan
That is correct. Mysql did not update the loader
cache; therefore, I had to symbolic link
libmysql.so.15 to /usr/lib.  I expected bacula to
remember where libmysql.so was since the path was
passet to it during installation.

Re: [Bacula-users] Bacula 1.38.9 installation!

2006-05-26 Thread Zakai Kinan
ldd says not found, but I don't know why. The
config.log says that it found it. See below.

DB_LIBS='-L/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient
-lz'
DB_NAME='mysql'
SQL_BINDIR='/usr/local/mysql/bin'
SQL_INCLUDE='-I/usr/local/mysql/include/mysql'
SQL_LFLAGS='-L/usr/local/mysql/lib/mysql -lmysqlclient
-lz'
backup:/usr/src/bacula-1.38.9# cd /usr/local/mysql/lib

Furthermore, I get no errors during configure and
make.

[Bacula-users] Bacula 1.38.9 installation!

2006-05-26 Thread Zakai Kinan
I had bacula 1.38.5 working ok and I decided to
upgrade to be able disable jobs and other
functionalities. Now the upgrade went awry and I am
getting the following error:  /usr/sbin/bacula-dir:
error while loading shared libraries:
libmysqlclient.so.15: cannot open shared object file:
No such file or directory. This file exists under
mysql in directory /usr/local/mysql. Here is the
configure setup:

CFLAGS="-g -O2 -Wall" ./configure
--with-working-dir=/var/bacula --sbindir=/usr/sbin
--sysconfdir=/etc/bacula
--with-pid-dir=/var/run/bacula
--with-subsys-dir=/usr/local/bin --enable-smartalloc
--with-mysql=/usr/local/mysql --with-dump-email=xxx
--with-job-email=xxx --with-smtp-host=localhost
--with-baseport=9101 --with-dir-password=xxx
--with-fd-password=xxx --with-dir-user=backup
--with-dir-group=backup --with-sd-password=xxx
--with-sd-user=backup --with-sd-user=backup
--with-fd-user=backup --with-fd-user=backup
--enable-static-dir --enable-static-sd
--enable-static-fd --enable-static-tools

This configure worked fine for 1.38.5. I am using
mysql 5.0.21. The release notes for 1.38.9 did not
mention anything new to installation. I also
attempted to uninstall and distclean.

TIA,

Re: [Bacula-users] Error in starting bacula-fd on client!

2006-05-01 Thread Zakai Kinan
I attempted to start bacula using ./bacula start and
this command gave me the error below. I installed the
client only on a redhat 9 box and it works just fine.
The config.log has a couple of errors as well. I
removed the comments; thus, the total size of the file
is less than 42 lines.

[Bacula-users] Error in starting bacula-fd on client!

2006-04-30 Thread Zakai Kinan
I just installed bacula 1.38.8 on a debian sarge 3.1
and now it will not start. I get the following error:

zak:/etc/bacula# ./bacula start
Starting the Bacula File daemon
30-Apr 17:49 bacula-fd: ERROR TERMINATION at
parse_conf.c:854
Config error: unexpected token 105 T_UNQUOTED_STRING
in resource definition
: line 42, col 21 of file
/etc/bacula/bacula-fd.conf
  director backup-dir = all, !skipped, !restored

The information in the bacula-fd.conf on this client
is correct. I was able to start this client after the
installation and now I can't start the daemon even if
I put it back to its original state.

bacula-fd.conf:

# List Directors who are permitted to contact this
File daemon
#
Director {
  Name = backup-dir
  Password = "X"
}

#
# Restricted Director, used by tray-monitor to get the
# status of the file daemon
#
Director {
  Name = zak-mon
  Password = "X"
  Monitor = yes
}

#
# "Global" File daemon configuration specifications
#
FileDaemon { # this is me
  Name = zak-fd
  FDport = 9102 # where we listen for
the director
  WorkingDirectory = /var/bacula/working
  Pid Directory = /var/run
  Maximum Concurrent Jobs = 20
}

# Send all messages except skipped files back to
Director
Messages {
  Name = Standard
  director backup-dir = all, !skipped, !restored
}

There is no parsing error that I can see. This is a
very basic file. This is a client only installation.
I installed from source.

TIA,

ZK

Re: [Bacula-users] Restore error!

2006-04-24 Thread Zakai Kinan
Thanks for the answer. I have another question my
storage file tells me that I have 10GB of data, but a
restore shows that most of the files are empty.
Bextract is not working and it is saying that gzip is
supported in win32.

Thanks for any help,

ZK

Re: [Bacula-users] Restore error!

2006-04-24 Thread Zakai Kinan
here is more info. My backup is using external USB
hardrives and I moved this weekend. After the move
the hardrives change for example from /dev/sdc to
/dev/sdd. I went into the bacula-sd.conf file and
made the necessary changes. Is that the problem?

Thanks for the quick response,

[Bacula-users] Restore error!

2006-04-24 Thread Zakai Kinan
what does this error mean exactly?

Query failed: SELECT DISTINCT FileSet.FileSet FROM
Job,Client,FileSet WHERE
Job.FileSetId=FileSet.FileSetId AND Job.ClientId=4 AND
Client.ClientId=4 ORDER BY FileSet.FileSet: ERR=Got
error 28 from storage engine

The better question is how can I fix it in order to be
able to restore some files?

Thanks,

Re: [Bacula-users] restoration problem!

2006-03-24 Thread Zakai Kinan
this folder is owned by root. Now the folder that sd
should write the restore to is owned by bacula while
/var/bacula is owned by root. I was thinking that dir
writes the log while sd writes the restore. That is my
mistake.

Thanks a lot,

[Bacula-users] restoration problem!

2006-03-24 Thread Zakai Kinan
I get the error below for every OS that I try to
restore. I have read the manual. I saw the same
question asked on this list several times still no
answer. I am not sure what else to do. I am using the
configuration that bacula came with. I can backup
just fine. I can see the files in the catalog and I
think they are on the disk because the volume grows by
several gigabytes. I am using Debian sarge 3.1 and I
installed from source. The backup is being stored
mainly on usb external disks, but I do have a DDS-4
tape as well. I added compression to the
configuration.

[Bacula-users] Lacie Big Disk Debian compatibility!

2006-03-20 Thread Zakai Kinan
My name is Zakai and I have been on this list for a
month. I just bought a Lacie 500GB usb external
hardrive and it worked for a day. It has stopped
working and I am using Debian 3.1. Does anyone use
this type of hardrive for backup? How is it working
for you? Is updating the kernel a good idea for usb
usage? I am using kernel 2.6.8-2-386 or Debian stock
kernel.
