I can confirm that S3 offsite backup is working great on BEE. I've never
tried it on Community.

Indeed.
One pretty big PoC I worked on was discarded at the end due to this 
issues with S3 offsite backup on Bacula Community edition.


Bacula Enterprise was eager to help with paid version, of course, but 
the entire PoC was stopped in last second before that took place.

So I can't really compare it, but one client lost.

I have tried for over 6 months to get an S3 bucket working, with multiple 
operating  systems, multiple versions of bacula community edition, all to no 
avail.
I have scoured the docs for help, or just a set of conf file entries that will 
work.  The one how-to that purports to work is with bacula enterprise edition 
which jumps to the enterprise edition GUI screen instead of showing the actual 
conf file entries.
The installation methodology is the same. Just register at bacula.org to have 
your own package repo for several distros 
<https://www.bacula.lat/community/bacula-community-9-x-official-packages-installation-script/?lang=en>,
 download and install the SD version matching packages such as in 
<https://www.bacula.org/packages//rpms/9.6.7/el7/x86_64/bacula-cloud-storage-9.6.7-1.el7.x86_64.rpm>
You might need to install the libs3 manually. The configurations are the same.
We have several Community users using it in Brazil.

I'm using dummy S3 bucket and upload data with StorageGateway (oracle 
cloud is not supported directly), however I have some troubles with this 
setup.
