32bit processors are still supported.

If you're using 5.2.6 you are probably using the packages provided by
Debian. In your case you can upgrade to version 7.4.3 easily by using
jessie backports[1], or upgrade your server to Debian 9 Stretch and then
get the current 9.4.1 from stretch backports.

As I know "AMD64" is a synonym for the 64-bit version of the x86
instruction set - widely used in the linux world.

The client version must be =< than the Director.
If this version doesn't suit you there are several others on bacula.org.

Thanks Heitor. This is good, all in one place and written in 'noddy'
langiage I can understand! I will have a go

I will download the latest  Dec2018 version. I need a windows client
too, will the latest bacula version work with the client on your website?

It is pretty doable: http://bacula.us/compilation/
Client build instructions at the end. There are not many deps or caveats.

It is pretty doable: http://bacula.us/compilation/
Client build instructions at the end. There are not many deps or caveats.

Thanks Phil

I guess this means I am correct about  the  AMD64 binary not working then

Seems quite a process to get the source and compile it. I think it is
probably beyond me

You could always compile from source, if you have an unusual hardware
platform.

[Bacula-users] Will latest release run on i686

2019-01-22 Thread Hodges
Been thinking about updating my bacula which is 5.2.6 and is running on
an oldish linux server which runs Debian 8 Jessie on an intel Atom i686
processor

All the downloads on the website for 9.2.2 are for AMD64 so far as I can
see, which I guess will not work on my system. Am I right on this? Do I
have to change my server to run 9.2.2
