[Bacula-users] aliasing servers?
Is there any way to alias a server within bacula? Specifically, I just renamed a server, without changing it's IP. I can easily update the bacula configurations on the -fd, -sd, and -dir, but I would like it if bacula could be told that there are two names for this machine, and that a new (full) backup is not necessary. This capability be particularly important in the future as machines with multiple-TB of storage are renamed or re-IP'ed. Environment: bacula 1.38.11 Linux (FC1 with 2.4.24 on bacula-sd, bacula-dir. SUSE 10 with 2.6.13 on the client) Mysql 5.0.22 Thanks, Mark Mark Bergman [EMAIL PROTECTED] System Administrator Section of Biomedical Image Analysis 215-662-7310 Department of Radiology, University of Pennsylvania http://pgpkeys.pca.dfn.de:11371/pks/lookup?search=mark.bergman%40.uphs.upenn.edu - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. What you call a server in Bacula has no relation to what you call that server outside Bacula. Therefore I'm not quite sure what you mean by 'renamed a server'. Did the hostname change? If so, Bacula doesn't care... Perhaps if you paste the Client resource (change sensitive data) and show us what you changed, we'll be able to help more. -- Dan Langille - http://www.langille.org/ Available for hire: http://www.freebsddiary.org/dan_langille.php - This SF.net email is sponsored by: Splunk Inc. I would update the catalog to reflect the new client id. Currently, this can be done by accessing the catlog directly. You will need to change the ClientIds in the Job table from the old id to the new id *at least*. I haven't investigated but it might be possible that there are columns in other tables to be changed, too. I renamed a machine once by only changing the machine name in the Client table while the DIR was not running, changed the client resource, and restarted the DIR. I believe that worked... This capability be particularly important in the future as machines with multiple-TB of storage are renamed or re-IP'ed. Probably true.
