Are you asking me? Although I do use bat and webmin sometimes. My
primary administration of bacula is via ssh using bconsole and nano to
edit the conf files. This is for around 50 clients and close to 100
different jobs.

Yes, u were right. Pine, is the first member on our new domain and thus did
not have the same host entries. I was surprised to find out that the sd
address needed to be resolvable both ways for the backup to work.
Regardless, using the IP only is working now and will leave until dns has
been merged to the new domain.

That is one reason why we were both complaining about pinging the other
direction.. In the case of a FQDN instead of an ipaddress being placed in
the bacula-dir.conf, the director does not resolve the FQDN it passes that
to the client to resolve. This is actually a good thing because it can allow
for complex multi homed setups where different clients have a different path
to the storage.

Although this will not help your backup problem. Make sure your bconsole.conf

parameters are in the storage resourse on the bacula-dir.conf

Pine is the fd client and .55 is the correct host ip.

John - Yes, I can ping the dir from the client, however, bconsole will not
connect from the client. There is no firewall on the director and windows
firewall is disabled on the client.

"Connecting to Director 10.200.1.124:9101" and then the DOS prompt closes.

But I can ping it fine.

Reply from 10.200.1.124: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64
Reply from 10.200.1.124: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64

Other windows clients can connect without any problem so shouldn't be a port
issue...

Thanks.

This is going from the server to the client. Not from the windows

Your estimate means that The server its connecting to the client, but it dosent
see any file to backup.
I need to know also if you can PING from your cliente to your server with the

Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) on the windows box

change directory to the folder containing the bacula-fd.exe
find the location of the bacula-fd.conf

then execute bacula-fd

bacula-fd -d 100 -c fullpathofbacula-fd.conf

And see if there are errors printed.
