FW: My 1 am readings and meditations ...take hold of the essence and let go the non-essential

My dear dear
friends

These
were my one o’clock past midnight readings and meditations shared with
you in love

The
central spiritual issue facing all people, Bahá'u'lláh says, whatever their
nation, religion, or ethnic origin, is that of laying the foundations of a
global society that can reflect the oneness of human nature. The unification of
the earth's inhabitants is neither a remote utopian vision nor, ultimately, a
matter of choice. It constitutes the next, inescapable stage in the process of
social evolution, a stage toward which all the experience of past and
present is impelling us. Until this issue is acknowledged and addressed,
none of the ills afflicting our planet will find solutions, because all the
essential challenges of the age we have entered are global and universal, not
particular or regional.

(Baha'i Texts)

Our guide is the body of writings he has
left. 'Abdu'l-Bahá had proclaimed in countless Tablets and talks the pivotal
principle of Bahá'u'lláh's message:
"In this wondrous Revelation, this glorious century, the foundation of the
Faith of God and the distinguishing feature of His Law is the consciousness of
the Oneness of Mankind." 'Abdu'l-Bahá had been equally emphatic in
asserting, as already noted, that the revolutionary changes taking place in
every field of human endeavour now made the unification of humanity a realistic
objective.

His Holiness Bahá'u'lláh has announced that
the

foundation of all religions is one; that
oneness is Truth

and Truth is oneness which does not admit
of plurality."

"He sets forth the principle for this
day that religion

must be the cause of unity, harmony and
agreement

among mankind. If
it be the cause of discord and hostility,

if it leads to separation
and creates conflict, the

absence of religion would
be preferable in the world."

furthermore He proclaims that religion must
be in

accord with science and reason. If it does
not so conform

it is superstition."

‘Abdu’l-Baha’s

was to bring about unity among religions
and sects and

to remove the severe strife from their
hearts and from

their tongues, to
urge them to take hold of the essence

and let go the
non-essential.

discord and warfare are evidences of
disagreement upon the non-essential precepts and laws of religious belief.
Investigation of the one fundamental reality
and allegiance to the essential unchanging  principles of the Word of God
can alone establish unity and love in human hearts.

(Abdu'l-Baha, The Promulgation of Universal Peace, p. 445)

"The Revelation proclaimed by Bahá'u'lláh,
His followers believe, is divine in origin, all embracing in scope, broad in
its outlook, scientific in its method, humanitarian in its principles and
dynamic in the influence it exerts on the hearts and minds of men. The
mission of the Founder of their Faith, they conceive to be to proclaim that
religious truth is not absolute but relative, that Divine Revelation is
continuous and progressive, that the Founders of all past religions, though
different in the non-essential aspects of their teachings, 'abide in the same
Tabernacle, soar in the same heaven, are seated upon the same throne, UTTER THE
SAME SPEECH AND PROCLAIM THE SAME FAITH.' His Cause, they have already
demonstrated, stands identified with, and revolves around, the principle of the
organic unity of mankind as representing the consummation of the whole process
of human evolution.” emphasis added

Before I

will
relate an incident which

was told
me by one who saw it. It seems that she was

occupying
a room in the Inn at the same time that
'Abdu'l-Bahá

was
there. She was dressing and happening to glance

out of
the window she saw 'Abdu'l-Bahá pacing up and

down
dictating to His secretary. An old man, wretchedly

clothed,
passed the Inn as she watched. 'Abdu'l-Bahá
sent

His
secretary to call him back.

The
Master stepped up to him and took his hand, smiling

into his
face as though greeting a
welcome friend.

The man
was very ragged and dirty. His trousers particularly

were filthy
and barely covered his limbs. 'Abdu'l-Bahá

talked
with him a few moments. His face a smiling

benediction.
He seemed to be trying to cheer the old man

and
finally there did appear the trace of a smile, but it

was
rather bleak. 'Abdu'l-Bahá's eyes swept the pitiable

figure,
and then He laughed gently: He said something

to the
effect that the old man's trousers were not very

serviceable
and that we must remedy that lack.

It was
very early in the morning and the street deserted.

My
friend, watching, saw 'Abdu'l-Bahá step into the

"The Three Onenesses" in the Sacred Text

2005-07-12 Thread Khazeh Fananapazir
It is often stated that the Bahai Teachings consist of the Three Onenesses.
Innumerable books, Pamphlets, and websites testify that this is the Summary
of the Teachings of the Bahai Faith.

http://www.bahainyc.org/virtual-study-center/vsc_section2.html

The core belief of the Bahá'í Faith is composed of three onenesses: the
oneness of God, of religion, and of humanity. Of the three, the principle of
the Oneness of Mankind is the pivot round which all the teachings of
Bahá'u'lláh revolve.

http://www.houstonbahai.org/

At the heart of Bahá'u'lláh's teachings is the principle of the Three
Onenesses:

Topic: The Three Onenesses Page 1
This newsletter is dedicated to all seekers after the Eternal Truth.

If asked to summarize Bahá'u'lláh's Mission in one word, that word
would have to be: UNITY--the unity of the whole world, all its diverse
peoples and kindreds, races and religions, nations and societies. Central to
this theme is the teaching of Bahá'u'lláh which Bahá'ís refer to as the
three onenesses--the oneness of God, the oneness of religion, and the
oneness of mankind.

THE QUESTION AROSE: IS THERE EVIDENCE IN THE SACRED WRITINGS OF THE FAITH ie
from Baha'u'llah or the Master 'Abdu'l-Baha that somewhere in Their Sacred
Writings these Three Onenesses have been mentioned together?

This servant has searched many years for this truth and I am glad to share
with you that YES in one of His Sacred Utterances) the Master places
together these Three Onenesses

GOD IS ONE. THE HUMAN SPECIES IS ONE. THE FOUNDATION OF ALL THE DIVINE
RELIGIONS IS ONE. THE REALITY OF DIVINE LORDSHIP IS THAT OF LOVE**

I have never seen anywhere else these Three Onenesses so conjoined so linked
as has become common in Bahai teaching in Bahai kerygma.

(I am aware that Edmund Husserl (1859-1938) also talked about "The Three
Onenesses" in phenomenology.

These three onenesses are: the factual unity of things and states of
affairs, the eidetic unity of essences, and the living unity of
consciousness as it flows along in a stream of experiences)

RE: She-Camel (An-Naghah)

2005-07-12 Thread Michael Alcorn

The stories of Hud and Salih are somewhat similar to the story of Noah, the
flood and the Ark. They are all symbolic. In the Bahá'í Writings we find
explained the significance of such terms as Noah's Ark, the flood, the she-camel
and other incidents. For example, 'Abdu'l-Bahá in a Tablet(3) explains that the
she-camel was symbolic of the holy spirit of Salih, and the milk was symbolic of
the spiritual food which his spirit offered to the people. The significance of
the she-camel being hamstrung is the suffering inflicted by the wicked people on
that holy soul, Salih. The spring of water which the people denied to the
she-camel signifies life on this earth. The people were so attached to earthly
things that they could not recognize the gifts of God to them, and so they rose
up in opposition to Salih, and when he departed from their midst they became
deprived of his spiritual influence. His absence was the calamity which caused
them to be deprived of the bounties of God and consequently they perished
spiritually. There is a chapter in the Qur'án known as the Surah of Hud. It
tells the story of all the Prophets including Hud and Salih. It describes how
they were all denied, opposed and persecuted by their own people. Bahá'u'lláh
refers to this in the Kitáb-i-Íqán:

  Dear friends,

Baháulláh refers to the She-Camel (An-Naghah in Arabic) in the Epistle of
the Son of the Wolf as its station being exalted in reference to same in the
Holy Qurán. I was told that the story is presented in the Qurán as related to
the Prophet Saaleh. Anyone have any info or a reference that they could
  suggest.

  Thanks.
