Apa iya begitu ya?
Saya jadi bingung.
banyakan gak benernya.

Thx,
Mia

 Bunda Fajar,

IMHO, minuman bersoda kurang baik untuk anak kecil.
Saya tidak mempunyai penjelasan ilmiah bagaimana minuman bikarbonat
mempengaruhi komposisi kalsium tubuh kita. (seperti yg pernah ditulis

  Hallo Rekan Netters,
Anak saya Fajar umur 2, 8 bulan sangat suka minum sejenis
 Sprite,
Cocacola dan Fanta. Memang saya sering ada persediaan
 minuman itu di
rumah. Tapi kalau persediaan habis , Fajar sering minta
 dibeliin di
warung, kebetulan warung dekat rumah saya menjual minuman
 tersebut.
Biasalah kalau tidak dibelikan, Fajarnya nangis terus.
 Kira-kira apa
dampaknya bagi kesehatan si anak kalau kebanyakan
 mengkonsumsi jenis
  minuman tersebut.

Thank you in advance for the sharing.

  Dear netters,
mengalami
proses demineralisasi melalui resin untuk menghilangkan logam2 berat
dan
mineral2 yang tidak diinginkan, akan tetapi tetap meninggalkan
mineral2
yg diperlukan tubuh kita, seperti natrium, kalium, magnesium, calsium
etc. Kemudian diaerasi menggunakan ozon, gunanya untuk membunuh
bakteri
jenuh.
  yg relatif tinggi.
Jadi yg terbaik untuk tubuh kita memang air biasa (air mineral or
  sparkling water).

  Wassallam,
  Papa Thia

Warning Signs of a Hearing Problem

Deafness is the leading cause of delayed language development, according to the
American Medical Association's (AMA) Complete Guide to Your Children's Health. Even
temporary hearing loss caused by an ear infection - not to mention more permanent
damage that can be the result of frequent infections - can affect how and when your
child learns to talk. Your child's doctor should check his hearing regularly, but for
the meantime, print this form so you can keep an eye out for any of these warning
signs.

According to the AMA, you should call the pediatrician if your child:
  Age: Warning Signs: Check Here
Newborn to three months a.. doesn't startle in response to a sudden loud sound

b.. doesn't seem to recognize your voice

c.. doesn't move or wake up at the sound of voices or nearby noises when
sleeping in a quiet room

d.. doesn't respond to sounds, music, or voices

e.. when fussy or crying, doesn't calm down when you speak to him while you're
out of sight

  Age: Warning Signs: Check Here
Four to eight months a.. doesn't turn his head or eyes toward a sound he can't
see

b.. doesn't change expressions at the sound of a voice or a loud noise when
he's in a quiet setting

c.. doesn't seem to enjoy shaking a rattle, ringing bells, or squeezing
noisemakers

d.. by six months, hasn't begun to babble to himself or back at others who
speak to him

  Age: Warning Signs: Check Here
Nine to 12 months a.. doesn't turn quickly or directly toward a soft noisemaker
or "shush"

b.. doesn't respond to his name

c.. doesn't vary his pitch when babbling

d.. doesn't make several different consonant sounds when babbling (m, p, b, g,
etc.)

e.. doesn't respond to music by listening, bouncing, or singing along

f.. doesn't understand what "no" means

g.. at one year, doesn't pronounce many different consonant sounds at the
beginning of words

[balita-anda] Is Bubble Bath Bad for Kids?

Is Bubble Bath Bad for Kids?
By Lisa Asta, MD, FAAP

Question:
I've heard that bubble bath is bad for my child's skin. Are there any alternatives
that contain milder ingredients?
Answer:

Aug. 21, 2000 -- Sorry to burst your bubble, but all bubble baths are irritating
because they contain foaming agents and detergents, called anionic surfactants.
Surfactants are known irritants, and prolonged exposure or high concentrations can
cause irritant dermatitis -- better known to parents as dry, itchy, red skin.

Doctor's offices are packed with kids suffering from irritation caused by bath
products, and if your kids beg for bubble baths, you are right to ask if less
irritating products are available. But they aren't.

In a December 1998 study published in the American Journal of Contact Dermatitis,
researchers tested nine children's bubble bath products and found that all of them
were irritating to the skin. So as not to cause harm to children, the researchers
applied concentrated bubble bath to the tender inner arms of adults, not children. And
there was no actual bathing.

The researchers found that products containing four or more surfactants were the most
irritating. Unfortunately, you'd need a chemistry degree to learn from the most
product labels just how many surfactants a product contains. Your sleuthing will be
further hampered by the fact that some manufacturers use fewer surfactants, but in
higher concentrations.

Besides irritating the skin, bubble baths can also irritate the genitals and the
urinary tract, leading to pain, burning, and frequent urination. Contrary to popular
thought, both girls and boys can be affected. Children with a history of urinary tract
infections should stay out of the bubbles. So should children with dry skin or eczema,
because bubble baths can further dry and irritate their already sensitive skin.

The bottom line is that most pediatricians do not recommend bubble baths for children.
If you decide to let your kids take bubble baths, make them an occasional treat, not a
daily event. Carefully follow the directions on the bottle and resist the temptation
to throw in an extra capful to make more foam. Increasing the concentration may raise
the risk of a reaction. Use the coolest water that is comfortable because hot water
strips the skin of its protective oils. Be sure the children rinse with clear water
afterward and consider using a skin moisturizer.

If your kids love bubble baths, watch for signs of irritation. If problems arise,
throw the bubbles out with the bath water. Sorry, kids.

Ikutan yach..
Asal yakin gak ada sisa sabunnya sich ok-ok aja ...Tapi memang kalau disini
khan airnya udah air yang langsung minum yach, jadi rasanya kalau saya
kebetulan pulang ke Indonesia, pasti saya bilas pakai air matang dulu
sebelum pakai...
Sampai
sekarang kalau pakai produk, pasti carinya produk baby...

Salam,
Mia

mangkuk, cangkir dll), masih saya rebus. Cuma kadang2 saya pikir, siapa
tahu nggak bagus juga lingkungan terlalu steril, anak jadi nggak diberi
kesempatan mengembangkan kekebalan alaminya ?
perlakuannya kayak peralatan makan / minum kita ?

 Mbak Rien,

Kalau pengalaman saya anak pertama dan kedua, merebus alat makan dan minum
termasuk dot hanya saya lakukan empat bulan pertama, apalagi anak kedua
ini,
ingat saya hanya beberapa kali waktu awal minum susu (pake dot) sekembali
tempat
rendamnya ditutup dengan lap bersih dhe.

 Sekian dari saya.

Tune In to Find Out if Your Child Is Developing Normally

Use Recognition of TV Images to Assess Development

By Andrea M. Braslavsky, MS
WebMD Medical News

March 28, 2000 (Atlanta) -- Television may turn out to be a useful tool for assessing
development in young children, according to an observational study published in the
March 25 issue of the British Medical Journal. Some British researchers say it may
help pediatricians determine if a child who is not yet talking at 18 to 24 months has
a learning problem. But other pediatricians are not convinced of its value.

"One thing [we] are concerned about is learning difficulties because they are not
going to go away," lead author Ben Lloyd, MD, tells WebMD. "That is an important
diagnosis. But trying to assess the abilities of a child who is not talking is quite
difficult, so you need some good questions [to ask the parents]." Lloyd is a
consultant pediatrician at the Royal Free Hospital in London.

One of the questions Lloyd and his colleagues have started using is, "Does your child
recognize the picture of a cat, dog, or baby on the television screen?"

"In order to [recognize a cat, dog, or baby on TV], I think you have got to be of
reasonable intelligence and you have got to want to communicate," he says, adding that
they chose cats, dogs, and babies because those appear to be the first things young
children recognize.

To determine at what age most developmentally normal children recognize those images,
Lloyd questioned the parents of almost 800 children between the ages of 8 and 23
months old, as well as the parents of 26 18-month-old children with Down's syndrome.

If a parent responded that their child did indeed recognize the television image of a
cat, dog, or baby, they were asked, "How do you know?" The researchers concluded that
a child recognized the image if he or she named, imitated, or pointed at the image.
Becoming excited or patting the screen was not considered sufficient evidence.

"We identified that by 18 months, 96% of the children are reported to recognize a cat,
dog, or baby on the television screen," says Lloyd. By contrast, only 19% of children
with Down's syndrome were reported to identify those images at 18 months.

Lloyd asks parents if their child recognizes these TV images as one of several
questions asked to evaluate a child's development when there is a developmental
concern. "I ask other questions, like, 'Does she help around the house? Does she
follow simple instructions?'" he says.

One advantage of the TV image recognition question is that parents understand it and
"they can answer it clearly." Whereas, Lloyd finds that other developmental questions
asked of parents, like "Does he follow instructions?" are not always easy for them to
answer.

"As a technique, [recognition of TV images] is not a particularly sophisticated one,"
Renee Wachtel, MD, tells WebMD in an interview about the study. "They asked parents at
what age they thought their child could recognize these different things on
television, which is really quite different than actually testing the children to see
what they could, in fact, recognize. So it is very second hand in that regard."
Wachtel is a professor of pediatrics and director of developmental and behavior
pediatrics at the University of Maryland School of Medicine.

"Then obviously, you get into the other set of issues: whether children who are very
young should be watching television at all," she says. "While the [American] Academy
of Pediatrics and many pediatricians do not feel that young children should be
watching TV, I think there are much better ways to be determining how well your child
is doing developmentally. We are much bigger proponents of reading books to your
children and having your children identify pictures rather than things on TV as a
better way of teaching your child and knowing whether your child is learning what you
are teaching."

Lloyd says he is aware that promoting the use of television as a diagnostic tool is
controversial, especially in light of the American Academy of Pediatrics' recent
recommendation that children under the age of 2 watch no television at all.

"Other pediatricians have said to me, 'You are sending the wrong message with this
test,'" says Lloyd. "On a bad day you could imagine that some mother will hear about
this, spot that her 16-month-old child isn't doing it, and then sit the child in front
of the television for four hours as therapy. This is my nightmare scenario."

"Of course whether the child has normal development or not, they are better off not
plopped in front of the television," says Lloyd. "In fact, as a result of this, I talk
about the dangers of excessive television more."

Vital Information:

a.. New research shows that by 18 months of age, 96% of children can recognize a
cat, dog, or baby on a television screen, but only 19% of Down's syndrome children can
do this.
