Limit the number of error browsers?

2008-12-04 Thread Jan Erik Moström

Is there some way of telling BBEdit to use only one result browser for
a specific file? I tend to end up with a large set of error browsers
for a file (probably because of my working style) and it gets a bit
tedious to close each browser.

How do I switch panes in a browser from the keyboard?

2008-12-04 Thread Daryl Spitzer

Is there a way to switch the focus from the list pane to the text pane
and back in a (disk) browser, from the keyboard?

Here's my question in a more generic form: Is there documentation on
keyboard shortcuts that do not have menu equivalents?

From the list, press Tab. Since Tab is valid input in the text view,
press Control-Tab to move keyboard focus back to the list.

Here's my question in a more generic form: Is there documentation on
keyboard shortcuts that do not have menu equivalents?

The keyboard shortcuts are generally documented in Appendix A of the
manual. Is there something specific you had a question about?

symbol list accessible in AppleScript

2008-12-04 Thread Lee Hinde

Is the symbol list accessible in AppleScript?

For instance, if I have a CSS file open, can I get a list of
attributes that would show up in the symbol list?

Thanks.

Re: Auto Save Default Window

2008-12-04 Thread ptackbar

This option manually saves the default window position, but I want
BBEdit to *always* remember it's window size and position each time I
end the program. I don't want to have to manually invoke that menu
command just before I close the program.

I'd love BBEdit to support this natively, but if there were a way to
invoke the Save Default Window command via AppleScript, I'd be
happy.

I know about Window - Save Default Window but it seems like there

  position of each window type.

I believe this is exactly what BBEdit does with the Window - Save
Default Window command. From page 137 of the user manual:

Each type of window has its own default position
and size. For instance, the default position and
size for project windows is different from the
default position and size for text windows.

 Am I missing something?

When you quit, BBEdit 9 remembers your open document (and disk
and project browser windows), and reopens them the next time you
start, provided that Reopen documents that were open at last
quit is turned on (Preferences - Applications).

Re: Auto Save Default Window

2008-12-04 Thread Seth McFarland
I'm not talking about remembering the state of my last session (and I
realize that BBEdit will honor the size/window position saved with specific
files, if that option is checked).

I like to start with a clean slate when I start BBEdit so I have it set to
create a new text document on start. When I'm done with the program and
close it, upon reopening BBEdit, I have a new text document and the window
is no longer the size or position it was when I closed the program.

I'm not sure if I'm being very clear. I'm searching for a way to make the
main BBEdit window retain it's size/position after program close, regardless
of what documents I have open.

Yes. I'm wanting the editor window to preserve its size regardless of
what document(s) I have open. Especially since I start with a blank
text file each program start.

The last two entries in the Markup menu are Preview in [Default] and

select the one you want. I think that you have Default set to All
