Should relative paths work for x-counterpart emacs variable
Good afternoon, I'm trying to setup emacs variable to specify a counterpart file for some perl modules. I've not been able to get it working and not sure if problem is the emacs syntax or if counterpart doesn't work for files in a different directory. The directory/file structure is: Schema: Results: User.pm ResultSets: User.pm In the Schema/Results/User.pm file I put this as the first line: # -*- x-counterpart: ../ResultSets/User.pm -*- Clicking the counterpart button or choosing Open Counterpart doesn't do anything. Should I be able to do that, and if so can anyone suggest the correct syntax to use? I have also tried a Local Variables: block at the end of the file and that doesn't work either. A rather annoying problem with new editing BBEdit pop-up
I've encountered this very annoying problem editing an HTML document. To add a DIV around a TABLE the whole table's lines were selected, I pressed ctrl-D keys and the new BBEdit pop-up was at the bottom-side of screen but almost outside screen (!!!) and I could just see only the beginning of pop-up (where I could read div on grey background ...). So in short it was not possible to see any fields below the popup heading. And the only way to get the whole new BBEdit pop-up not outside screen has been to scroll the document at the beginning of the TABLE's selection. Not very comfortable at all. Did anybody see this problem ? Any idea to fix it without scrolling at top of selection ? I need to double check, and I can't at the moment, but I was under the impression that I had implemented automatic saving of state for documents in 10.0. If not, the previous state mechanics still apply (except in certain specialized cases, which can occur when a document is open in multiple windows, and when a document is opened into a window which already has documents open in it). syncing web sites
Hi, Ok, I have a local site setup in the setup sites area, a bookmark for the ftp, and a project for the local files, but, how do I sync them, like after working and testing for a bit, is there now way to click and sync the two? I have my previews working the way I want them to. I have an ftp browser connected to my folder on the server and my project is open locally, but they don't seem logically connected in any way, so that changes in one propagates to the other, and both ways, either changes on the server come down to local, or local changes sync to the server. Sugg: Don't Open Docs Into Docked Window -and- FR Doc Groups
Might just be me but I often find myself frustrated when a window is Docked, but gets brought out just so the document I just opened in the Finder can open in the frontmost window. It would be great if, in this case, BBEdit treated the situation as if no window were open. If I do have a window visible, I *do* want the opened file to open into it, but if I don't, it would be great if it opened on its own instead of pulling windows out of the Dock. -- It would be nice if multi-file find-and-replace grouped Open Text Documents into selectable collections of the windows in which they reside. things about 10 that are driving me batty... help?
here are some random walls i keep slamming into with 10... any suggestions, tips, and/or workarounds would be MOST welcome! thanks, bruce = it now takes twice as many clicks as it used to to add attributes to images tags old way: click in height field, add value and/or click in width field, add value and/or click in border field, add value in 10: click in attribute name field, type first letter (i.e., 'w'), tab to or click in value field, add value repeat 2 more times for height and border i.e., 4 steps required instead of 2 for EACH item how does this help me? yes, some of those tags are optional... but best practices is still to include them, yes? and, even if not, MY practice is to include them. is there not a compromise solution or workaround? yes, i can 'update document images' at any point... but this seems like an added step. i REALLY miss being able to see... and the ability to quickly edit multiple, common params. = i can't tell you how many times in the last many years i've clicked on the 'preview' palette button to preview my page in the last chosen browser... and yet now, i have to click and then select a browser before i can see it. why the behavior change? why doesn't it just preview in the last selected browser? since i could always click and hold to select a different browser, why now opt for only one of the two behaviours? the manual says Some palette buttons are actually popup menus. Clicking a popup menu button while holding down the Command key invokes that menu’s last-selected menu option. but this does NOT work for me. yes, i can command+control+p to preview in the last browser i previewed in... so why does the html palette button no longer provide this functionality? the manual also says Try pressing the Option key and watch how the palette changes. By holding down Option as you click, you can force many buttons that normally display a settings dialog to use their previous settings instead... but NONE of my v10 palettes change. = i really want to adjust the palette sensitivity... i have to very deliberately click on palette buttons to get them to work. if i click too quickly, they do not respond until the next click. suggestions welcome. = saved workspaces do NOT honor window width when toggling 'open documents' on and off. if i open one document, i do NOT get the 'open documents' listing on the left, even after trying 'defaults write com.barebones.bbedit AutoShowFileList -bool YES' (recommended fix from barebones... still doesn't work) = in all of the attribute editor windows that come up when clicking on an html palette button, i can do everything i need to by clicking... EXCEPT cancel. for that, i have to type, when to this point i've been clicking. can't i have a 'cancel' button to click on? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the BBEdit Talk discussion group on Google Groups. Re: Rename while in project panel
I'm seeing that renaming using that script does change the filename in the Project tab, and everywhere else I could see in BBEdit. I have upgraded to the 10.0.1 (3063) build, if that makes a difference. Matt -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the BBEdit Talk discussion group on Google Groups. I'm just remarking on how our different needs pose a very difficult problem for the people who are trying to serve us. No you are not. The fact of the matter is that the current placement sucks. EVERY editor I have, except for BBE10 (or is it X), has the files on the RIGHT, not the LEFT. Like Rich Siegel I like tabs as well, most of the time. In BBE I didn't mind the drop down in place of tabs. BB seems to be going the way of Apple. Do it our way or f-off. Speaking of the other half (an arrogant statement) how about tab completion! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the BBEdit Talk discussion group on Google Groups. That way, you can just start typing img and the autocomplete will give you the whole tag with the placeholders in it, and you just tab (or ctrl-`) from one attribute to the next. It's a different workflow, but one that I find more efficient than using the Markup Panel for certain elements.
