Re: Web hosting recommendations

2012-12-04 Thread blinde
i almost just moved all of my accounts (personal + client = 100+) to
bluehost, until i stumbled upon bluehostsucks.com

they apparently come down hard on any script that uses more than 10% of the
cpu its on, by killing the account instead of just the script.

there are a number of other problems cited, all of which made me very
nervous.

if you're interested in a vps account, i'm finding eboundhost (outside of
chicago) a most excellent option... fast, responsive service, very
competitive pricing.

just sayin'

thanks,
bruce

10.5 and Clippings

2012-12-04 Thread Pioneer
When I insert a clipping that has carriage returns at the end, the carriage
returns aren't included. It doesn't matter whether I insert the clipping
via a keyboard shortcut or from the Clippings palette. It worked fine
before, but not now.

Does anyone have any ideas why this would happen?

On another matter, I use ControllerMate to do a triple-click with my mouse
scroll wheel. It worked fine before and still works in other programs:
"when button ON do triple-click; when button OFF do nothing". This stopped
working in 10.5. I got it working again by reversing the process: button ON
do nothing; button OFF do triple-click. It seems to still work elsewhere,
but I'm curious about why it would break in 10.5.

I agree (at least about Recent Documents), and I logged a request for this
awhile ago. I find the Recents menu useless because it also contains
presently open documents. Maybe if enough folks ask for it they'll add a
preference.

What I do as a workaround is assign it to a key accelerator (though I guess
you'd need two different accelerators or a script).

[ANN] BBEdit 10.5

2012-12-04 Thread Rich Siegel

Good { morning, afternoon, evening },

We are pleased to announce the release and immediate
availability of BBEdit 10.5. This is a free update for anyone
using BBEdit 10.0.x or 10.1.x, and includes a number of feature
additions (including, but by no means limited to,
high-resolution operation on Macs with Retina displays),
refinements to existing features, and fixes for reported
problems, as well as all the new features and refinements
previously released as part of the 10.0 and 10.1 upgrades.

A complete digest of the changes is available here:

If you're already using BBEdit 10, you can get the update from
the BBEdit updates page:

You can also use "Check for Updates" on the BBEdit menu to get
the update.

If you're using an older (pre-10.0) version of BBEdit, you can
download the BBEdit 10 demo from here to try it out:

BBEdit 10.5 is also now available in the Mac App Store.

Enjoy,

Hiya kids. Don't buy me anything for Christmas.

Downloafed 3239, working in it. I have had some lingering issues in the
past, but I'll submit what I have found. Not sure if this is for everyone
else.

- Window defaults not really working. Restarted with windows open and they
came up skinny and overlapping.

- Dialog boxes for saving files snaps back to super small.

That's it.

This is very interesting because it seems to me to be completely limited to
BBEdit 10.5. I’ve never had a problem with this in 10.1 or 9.x, and I’ve been
running 1Password since it came out. If I launch 10.1 on this MacBookPro, hard
wrap works. If I launch 10.5, it doesn’t.

If I change the BBEdit preference to use command-' and command-option-' it all
works.
