Eek! Monaco jaggies.

2014-10-30 Thread gw
Just fired up 11. Looking forward to checking out the syntax improvements.

Now, about this legacy Monaco thing… really? There was a movement to
encourage that change? I admit it took a little getting used to the
antialiasing years ago, but as pixel densities went up, antialiasing was
the way to go (I don't use any retina displays). Andale and Consolas still
don’t cut it for editing (for some reason they’re tolerable in Terminal—go
figure).

I’m not finding any “expert” setting to change this anti-antialising
opinion. Is there one?

Thx.

Where are you seeing Monaco ? BBEdit has been shipping with its version of
Consolas for a while now.

Re: Eek! Monaco jaggies.

2014-10-30 Thread gw
Not sure what you mean by that -- I'm seeing Monaco in my files as that's
my chosen font.

May be moot anyway. This prompted me to go on a font hunt again. Some time
ago, I searched, played, and didn't find anything which I liked better than
Monaco. This time I found https://github.com/adobe-fonts/source-code-pro
which is a pretty good one. Not too heavy, perhaps a teeny light (because
I'm used to Monaco), but I could get used to this one.

Still, I would like to turn anti-aliasing back on for Monaco.

source-codepro is a good one. I use Menlo which I like a lot. If you have
Office, i think, there’s Inconsolata.

Menlo is my favorite fixed font since Profont back in System 7 & 8 days.

There's a new 'ProFontX' available at
. I like it, YMMV.

As long as we're playing "favorite fonts"…

I've recently fallen in love with Input. Particularly because you can pick the
width and lightness of the letters you like best.

Yes, but it is missing too many characters anymore. For example, it lacks a €
symbol.

That is a very nice one, thanks.

I just tried it and the euro symbol is in fact present in ProFontX.
