Re: MobileMe integration
Patrick, That covers syntax, clippings, scripts, etc. I sync via GitHub for that. However, that unfortunately doesn't cover any color changes, key mappings, and other editor preferences. Is there a recommended way to sync those settings between two machines? I thought I read somewhere that it isn't exactly safe to copy the prefs file from machine to machine directly. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the BBEdit Talk discussion group on Google Groups. Re: MobileMe integration
I put mine on Github, and it seems to work great. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the BBEdit Talk discussion group on Google Groups. MobileMe integration
Hi all, so I finally decided to try that MobileMe. BBEdit's feature lists emphasizes the easy integration of BBEdit with Apple's online service. I searched the manual, the forum and the preferences but can't find a word on how to do it correctly. I suppose I just copy over the Application Support folder and the preference files to the iDisk and create aliases in the old places? Sorry if this is obvious, but I thought, I'd better ask before messing up my configuration files or missing some of that extra MobileMe voodoo treats. Re: MobileMe integration
I don't think you want to move anything. If you turn on MobileMe's Preference Sync (System Preferences » MobileMe » Sync), BBEdit's preferences will sync. Not sure what else you'd need to do. Re: MobileMe integration
Thank you, Luoma, but it does not work on my system(s): My System Preferences MobileMe Sync shows a couple of entries for other applications (including a old old entry for Yojimbo which I tested a year ago and didn't use it since then) - but I don't have BBEdit showing up in that list. I already tried the obvious - restarting BBEdit, log off and on again. No BBEdit. - could this be a file permission problem? Is there an easy way to get it into the sync list by hand or is this a case for the Barebones support team? When that feature was present, it was controlled by a BBEdit prefs option rather than the system prefs. However, this option is no longer available in BBEdit 9.5 and later: http://www.barebones.com/support/bbedit/arch_bbedit95.html * Support for synchronizing the BBEdit application support folder via MobileMe has been removed. If you wish to sync this folder across multiple computers, we recommend the use of DropBox or something like it. To do this, just place BBEdit's app support folder within your DropBox folder, then put an alias to it in the standard location (~/Library/Application Support/).
