[beagleboard] Linux Kernel tree for porting to mailine and basic support.

2017-11-25 Thread mindentropy
Hi,

What is the Linux kernel tree which is used to provide mainline support for
the beaglebone black? I would like to contribute towards mainlining and I
would like to know which is the tree for which the beaglebone black
development happens.

I am assuming the tree is https://github.com/beagleboard/linux. Please
correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks in advance,
Gautam.

[beagleboard] Debian 9.2, U-Boot Overlays and SGX

2017-11-25 Thread pablo . a . mayobre

Hi! This is my first time here and I wanted some help to setup my BBB

What's the best way to get a Debian 9.2 - Kernel 4.14 image with support
for U-Boot device tree overlays
(https://github.com/beagleboard/bb.org-overlays/tree/master/tools/beaglebone-universal-io)

while also getting the SGX driver?

I have investigated a lot but I need to make sure that this "guide" is
correct (since I don't wanna make any irreparable mistake)

I suppose that I need to get the Stretch Snapshot lxqt - Flasher:
(stretch-lxqt) (All BeagleBone Variants with a 4GB eMMC) image from:
https://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#Debian_Image_Testing_Snapshots

This comes with Kernel 4.9 so I would need to upgrade following the
instructions in:
https://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#Kernel_Opions
And I would install Mainline 4.14

After that, I would follow this instructions to get the SGX driver:
https://elinux.org/BeagleBoardDebian#SGX_BeagleBone.2FBeagleBone_Black

But instead of checking out the 4.4 branch I would checkout the 4.14 branch:
https://github.com/RobertCNelson/bb-kernel/tree/am33x-v4.14

Finally I would upgrade U-Boot
https://elinux.org/Beagleboard:BeagleBoneBlack_Debian#U-Boot_Overlays

And hopefully I wouldn't break anything. Is this guide correct? Am I
missing something?
Thanks in advance

[beagleboard] Re: Boot bare metal application - MLO no longer used?

2017-11-25 Thread acheesehead
MLO looks for uboot.bin. MLO can be rewritten to look for your application
or rename your application to uboot.bin. I chose to rewrite MLO, but forget
why. Was many years ago on Beagleboard Xm.

A likely culprit is the power supply.

Sounds like your version of MLO is too old.. Grab one of our v2017.11 builds...

[beagleboard] Re: Boot bare metal application - MLO no longer used?

2017-11-25 Thread Graham
The default serial console port for the PocketBeagle is UART0, labeled U0
TX and RX on the bottom of the card.
Same as Beaglebone, 3.3V, 115200 baud 8N1.
Works just like the BBB.

[beagleboard] Boot bare metal application - MLO no longer used?

2017-11-25 Thread mike . maikaefer
Hi,

I'm running a bare metal software on my BBB. It is started via a special
boot-application, a program named "MLO" located on eMMC card which then
itself starts my application from microSD card. This is one boot option of
the AM3358 and used by default.

Now I tried do to the same with the PocketBeagle, in this case with MLO and
my application both on the microSD card - unfortunately it does not work,
the application is not started.

My question: is there something fundamental different with the Octavo SoC?
And is there a serial debug interface available too, similar to the one
from the BBB where I can see some messages printed to serial console on
boot?

Thanks!
