Re: [beagleboard] Connecting beagle bone black to laptop LAN tthen to 3G USB data card

2013-10-13 Thread vinayak aghor

Hello,
I say share internet connection on 3G modem by following procedure
properties --> sharing --> select the LAN connection .. then press ok

Sharing is done.

But , OS (Vista) assigns that LAN connection a IP : 192.168.0.1 & net
mask as : 255.255.255.0

This is not in range of 192.168.7.2 of BBB.

Because of this my connection between BBB & PC breaks. So I can not SSH
into BBB.

Regards,
Vinayak

[beagleboard] Re: Procedure to install Ubuntu / Debian from scratch

2013-11-04 Thread vinayak aghor
Thanks George.

I want to install bootloader and uboot in BBB & then manually install
kernel and rootfs on TFTP.
Can I do that?
I found below link.. but don't know whether i can only install bootloader
& uboot in BBB. Then separately install kernel and rootfs of ubuntu in it.

http://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/BeagleBone+Black

I am new to linux itself

Regards
Vinayak

[beagleboard] Need support in compiling ubuntu for BBB

2013-11-04 Thread vinayak aghor
Hello,
I want to compile OS ubuntu for BBB.

I am referring http://eewiki.net/display/linuxonarm/BeagleBone+Black

In downloaded linux-dev-am33x-v3.12 in home directory. Then ran script
./build_kernel.sh

It initially downloaded cross-compiler toolchain (around 48MB) and did set
the CC, which is expected.
debug:
CC=/home/vinayak/linux-dev-am33x-v3.12/dl/gcc-linaro-arm-linux-gnueabihf-4.8-2013.09_linux/bin/arm-linux-gnueabihf-

Then it tried to download linux directory

scripts/git: LINUX_GIT not defined in system.sh
cloning git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/torvalds/linux.git
into default location: /home/vinayak/linux-dev-am33x-v3.12/ignore/linux-src
Cloning into '/home/vinayak/linux-dev-am33x-v3.12/ignore/linux-src'...
remote: Counting objects: 3239961, done.
remote: Compressing objects: 100% (486062/486062), done.
^Cceiving objects: 0% (1535/3239961), 836.00 KiB | 50 KiB/s

After downloading complete (around 650MB), got message as - Resolving deltas

Now internet connection lost. Again ran script ./build_kernel.sh

Now script again downloading 650MB data, which is not expected. In the
previous run, it has downloaded the same data & again downloading. There
should be some catch in this.

How to permanently fix this? How to download LINUX_GIT permanently.
so,again will not download same file

Please help

Regards
Vinayak

[beagleboard] Getting started information for ubuntu 13.04 on BBB (similar to Angstrom)

2013-11-09 Thread vinayak aghor
Hello All ,
I have downloaded *ubuntu-raring-13.04-armhf-3.8.13-bone20* from
http://www.armhf.com/index.php/boards/beaglebone-black/ & installed on SD
card. It started fine.

Is there any documentation on how to SSH to PC through USB0 (same as
angstrom), changing resolution of screen through command line?

Because I have no LAN internet connection , so I could not install
ubuntu-desktop.

Is there option to use following commands (same as Angstrom).
  - /sbin/route add default gw 192.168.7.1
  - echo "nameserver 8.8.8.8" >> /etc/resolv.conf

By this way I can get connected to USB dongle through SSH into PC.

Please help

Regards
Vinayak
