Just had sort of the opposite problem, but may be related. Track went
completely silent. The web interface showed that it was playing but no
sound at all. Went back a track and then forward - played correctly.

I'm not using any third-party firewall or anti-virus software, and I'm
using XP without SP2, so Security Center shouldn't be an issue.

Would my router's firewall settings create any problems? Just for

but still had the same problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New Default skin

2007-12-24 Thread teeitup

What are the parameters for "shuffle"?

The shuffle doesn't do a very good jpb of shuffling the deck.
I would be nice to have some tools to shuffle playlists differently.
(random, one song from each album then repeat)

The old UI you could shuffle a newly created playlist multiple times
and then save it. Can't do this in 7.

I'll create a new playlist and then shuffle and 4 tracks from the same
album remain together. You can't shuffle again without going back to
sorted mode first.

It would be nice to be able to create playlists while another was
playing.

[SlimDevices: Beta] Attn: Replacing makerelease.pl with buildme.pl...

2007-12-24 Thread Diranged

It's fairly well known that the makerelease.pl script has some issues
and dependencies that can cause headaches. I'm actively working on
replacing this script as quickly as possible... and wanted to get a
discussion going about possible features for the new script.

I do want to keep this new script simple ... so simple, in fact, that
it will only build one file at a time. It will never build an RPM and a
Debian file in the same command ... or build two tarballs at the same
time. My goal for this script is that somebody can check out the svn
code, type 'buildme.pl " and get a single file out
of the script that is built exactly the same way our production
releases are built.

Additionally, the script should not have any hard-coded file locations,
or package names. This is, in fact, the real motivation for the new
script... I believe that the name of each type of package should be
controlled in a manner that makes sense for that individual package.

Eg:
Debian Package -> The name should be controlled by the Debian
package control files... Perhaps some basic information such as the
version # could be dynamically generated, but the basic name is held in
the platforms/debian files.

RPM Package -> The RPM name should be determined by the .spec file.
It shouldn't get re-named by the makerelease.pl script (like it is
now), and as much of the name should be generated in the .spec file
alone. I agree with Fletch that doing a parse through the .spec file
and replacing things on the fly is ugly, and difficult to maintain.

Tarball (cpan, or no cpan) -> Given the basic nature of a tarball, it
seems to make sense that the name can be dictated from the user on the
command line. You'll see how I've done this in the script...

Windows/OSX Files -> I havn't gotten into how these packages are
built yet, so I don't have a plan for them... :) Give me some time,
I'll get there!

Final words... I've attached my first version of the script that works.
I've done some basic testing and it seems to work fairly well so far.
Please keep in mind I'm working on this script as much as possible
while still dealing with the holiday's, so hopefully in a few days I'll
have the Debian Package and RPM package portions functional. Right now,
this script ONLY builds a Tarball package.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New Nightly RPM Build for SqueezeCenter 7...

2007-12-24 Thread Diranged

Sorry for some of the issues with the old-rpm build in the nightly
directory guys... please be patient and we'll get these solved soon.
The root of the issue is that the makerelease.pl file is a kludge...
and without running multiple versions of this script, you can't easily
control the build of a Debian or RPM package ONLY... you have to do
both. So I have two different systems building an RPM...

Its very confusing, I admit.. I'll make a change to the script to
disable this build sometime soon... but for now, please use the
Yum-repository for the RPMs.

I've begun work on a brand new build script that I'll post in a
separate thread... look for this thread, and hopefully we'll have the
RPM builds coming off of this new script by the new year.

The only added dependency is the use of the system mysqld, but the RPM
won't install without this. What's the output of

2007-12-24 Thread NatureDude

Well, of coursebut it worked before 12/20 or so and all the renaming
so either:

- There are additional dependencies or requirements on the new version
and one is broken/missing on my system.

- The scrambled problem with locations and config files has left some
debris on my installation that prevents operation.

Now, I just need to know which and how in order to fix it...or be stuck
back at 12-20.

Thanks!

[SlimDevices: Beta] Problem invoking a plugin menu via custom key map file

2007-12-24 Thread Phil Meyer
I'm trying to get KDF's Scanner plugin to be brought up when play.hold is
pressed from [playlist] mode.

After a bit of playing round to find the new syntax, as a test I defined
shuffle.hold to invoke a random track mix:
shuffle.hold = modefunction_Slim::Plugin::RandomPlay::Plugin->tracks

I believe to jump to a plugin menu rather than execute a function within the
plugin, the syntax needs to be different.

I believe in 6.5, the syntax used to be:
play.hold = menu_PLUGIN.Scanner

I have tried changing this to:
play.hold = modefunction_Plugins::Scanner::Plugin->jumptomenu

I have turned on debug info for player.ir to see what is going on. It's
definitely finding my custom mapping, and trying to execute the function. I'm
seeing an "irCode not defined", but it still tries to execute something, by the

[SlimDevices: Beta] Only static/white noise with some tracks

2007-12-24 Thread funkahdafi

Hi there...

I've been trying the last couple of 7.0 beta releases (installed DEc.
24th build today) and have problems playing some files in my library.
My lib contains MP3 and AAC files only. On some of the tracks, my
SqueezeBox only plays static sound. As if the player would not convert
from MP3 or AAC. I am sure this is some kind of server setting, but I
have them all at default settings and those worked fine under the 6.x
version of the server (the problematic files played fine there!).

Any ideas?

Thanks

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New Default skin

2007-12-24 Thread ModelCitizen

Cheers Triode.
I've found favorites.opml, but it is in my cache directory under Users
and Settings (Windows), not in my playlist directory.

I've learnt that I can drag and drop in favorites since posting the
above but in AlienBBC at least, it's a little flaky. The items are not
always dropped in the place you drop them, but oddest of all is that
the AlienBBC menu list is sporadicaally replaced by the SC7 favorites
list.

I think it should be mentioned somewhere in SC7 settings (or in the
individual plugins pages) that you can drag and drop as it's not
entirely expected (maybe it is though and I've missed it).

Drag and drop would be very useful in the SC7 home page for reordering
favourites and radio stations etc... and this is where I originally
expected to find it.

Happy Christmas!

There's a file called favorites.opm which is either in your playlist
directory [if it exists and is writable, or in the cache folder which
has moved recently and I can't remember where it is.. I'll check if it
is not in your playlists folder]

As for drag-and-drop editing. Favorites and alien use the same
mechanism which means you can drag and drop any items within the same
opml file. What you can't do is take an item from a referred to opml
file and move it into the referring file. I think this is what you are
trying to do - worth looking at the opmls to be sure. The reason alien
uses a set of linked opml files is so that you can add any one level of
them to your favorites. Please add some feedback on the alien thread
about the menus which don't make sense though - I think this is an
alien problem.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New Default skin

2007-12-24 Thread ModelCitizen

I'd really like to be able to order my favourites (which I am using in
SC7 for the first time... and very useful they are too!). Drag and drop
would be nice (as it would for the lost of radio stations and other main
menu items) but I'd settle for little up and down buttons on the edit
page.

I've added some AlienBBC and Shoutcast radio stations to my favourites.
I can play some of the staions by clicking on the play or next icon
directly from the station listing in the SC7 home page menu, whereas
with other stations I have to click on the item title and am then taken
to a secondary page where I can click on the url of the stream (which
seem a bit useless) or hit an add or next button. There seems no logic
regarding which stations have a secondary page and which I can play
directly from the SC7 home menu.

I'd like to be able to directly edit the favorites menu settings text
file but can't find it. Where is it on a Windows system?

/usr/share/squeezecenter/Plugins is just a symlink to
/var/lib/squeezecenter/Plugins. If you extract the Alien tarball in
/usr/share/squeezecenter, it will work without moving anything around.
You still need to make sure mplayer.sh is executable as per the Alien

Extracted Alien to /usr/share/squeezecenter, chmod mplayer.sh and it
worked no problem.

Might be useful to add guidance for installing plugins on the wiki.
