Take a look at metadata_expire in your /etc/yum.conf. It's probably
1800 which is 30 minutes. As you said, "yum clean all" will clear
this.

Odd, it worked this time. Perhaps Yum was caching some of the data for
some reason. I think I forgot to do a 'yum clean all' as well.. oh
well, the update worked. This will make it alot easier to do multiple
builds per day, when we need to.

I normally do a manual update every day, but I didn't have time this
morning. I just did one now, and it updated to the new rev-numbered
version fine. I also downloaded the dated rpm from earlier today and
it looks fine.

I don't see anything wrong. Any chance you were testing changes and

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] New Default skin

2008-01-07 Thread WhaleOil

Sorry to extend this thread still further, but I have a question about
the formatting of the information shown in the 'Now Playing' section at
the top right hand side of the new default skin under SC7 (latest
nightly and all recent versions)

The information given here for the track currently playing seems a bit
strange.

For most tracks the format seems to be (although there are no labels):

Disc-Tracknum. Track (in bold font)
Album (Year)
Composer, Album Artist, Track Artist

however, when the track being played is from a compilation album, the
final line changes to

Track Artist, Composer, Album Artist

For example, I get

1-1. Drive My Car
Rubber Soul (1965)
Lennon/McCartney, The Beatles, The Beatles

and

1-9. Mama
Virgin's 21st Anniversary Sampler (1983)
Genesis, Banks/Collins/Rutherford, Various Artists

I would really prefer the final line of information to simply show the
Track Artist, or at least include some labels to say what the other
information is.

Otherwise the information can just look silly and repetitive, eg

1-4. Ashes to Ashes
Scary Monsters (1980)
David Bowie, David Bowie, David Bowie

In all other places the information looks fine (eg in the Track info in
the left hand pane when proper labels are shown for all of the tag
information).

It it is relevant, I am using iTunes on Mac OSX and see the same
formatting under both Safari and Firefox.

Many thanks for all your work on this - overall the new skin is looking
great.

Sure. To preserve upgrades just bump the increment in the spec file
from 1 to 2. So the nightly would be
squeezecenter-7.0-0.2.16000.noarch.rpm (or whatever). This will
upgrade from the dated nightlys and still work when the final release
is called 7.0-1.

We may want to make the increment another macro passed in from your
build script if that helps.

BTW, what's the latest plan regarding my list of Debian/RPM file
location differences. It's probably best to get those changes out of
the way sooner rather than later.

Fletch,
Now that I've got the nightly Debian build working properly (it was
pretty broken before hand), I was thinking I might try to use the same
naming schema with the RPM. What do you think about replacing the date
in the squeezecenter RPM with the revision #? I know we discussed it

daily builds... for the 'release' builds, we can have it only use a
version # with no date or revision #.

Matt,

Unfortunately I don't know the answer to this, but a few comments:
- Will you still include the rev number in the official release? If
not, make sure that upgrades to that still work. This is solved in RPM
by the 0.1 prefix before the date.
- Why revision instead of date? I think it will be easier for everyone
if all nightly builds (tarball, rpm, deb, etc) use either rev number or
date. Can we pick one and use it universally?

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Scrobbling

2008-01-07 Thread Siduhe

auronthas, sorry to hear it's still not working for you. To answer your
query, I was able to submit tracks ok last night and this morning. I'm
only using James' SlimScrobbler plugin, not the inbuilt AudioScrobbler
plugin.

Does the logfile have any clues? On SC7 you need to change the
relevant Plugins debugging page to DEBUG, play a few tracks, and then
have a look at the relevant entries in scanner.log (again, in your
Documents and Settings folder rather than under Squeezecenter). What
do the error messages say?

Couple of other thoughts - sorry if this is grandmother sucking eggs,
but try resetting your Last.fm password on their webpage (to the same
one as currently) and then rentering your details in the plugins. Will
rule out any possibility there's an error with your password (in
particular Last.fm website isn't case-specific, but I think the plugin
maybe).

Also, does your password have any non-alphanumerical characters? I had
a problem a long time ago with Last.fm not recognising/accepting this
kind of password.

Finally, I think I'm running a slightly earlier version of James'
plugin than you - will update this tonight and check I don't experience
any problems with that version (although under XP).

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] connection drop out

2008-01-07 Thread Gibbo

thats a point, I did the update on the new player, but didn't update the
old player, not with this build of SC anyway. will it prompt for
firmware updates? should I update firmware manually with every
overnight SC build?

drop outs do occur on both players, but the second player is further
away from the router and doesn't always get great signal so I put the
dropouts on that SB down to that, have just got some high gain antenna
which will hopefully improve things, otherwise its new router
firmware.

thanks.

I guess you did have to do a firmware update, too? Do you see the drop-outs on
all players?

[SlimDevices: Beta] connection drop out

2008-01-07 Thread Gibbo

I've been running 2 SB3's for a little over a week now, I've had one for
around 6 months.

I upgraded to the latest SC on the 30th of december when I installed
the second SB. The problem is, since connecting the second SB /
updating SC, I'm having drop outs.

the SB in my lounge, the one i've had for 6 months has been working
fine up till now, (its around 3 metres away from the router and shows a
minimum of 80% connection at any time, and 100% signal on all
frequencies.) Sitting there watching tv last night I could see the time
screen saver would go blank for 30 seconds, then reappear, i've not
tried a wired connection yet, will do tonight after doing an update if
the problem persists. just wondering if there are any other reports of
similar problems? The drop out happens when playing music too, the
players are synced.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SC7 rebuffering on a wired connection!/crashing PC?

2008-01-07 Thread moley6knipe

Thanks - I think the klif.sys thing was a one-off though; the problem is
no longer with my PC hanging (I guess I hadn't got SC7 excepted properly
in Kaspersky beforehand) - it's now this "rebuffering" message.

>From googling klif.sys when it crashed my PC, there definitely is a
problem with that file from Kaspersky, but as they don't regard it as a
security risk they don't appear to be in a hurry to stop it hanging
people's PCs!

Try disabling Kapersky altogether and see if your problems go away. It
seems that your not the only person running Kapersky that has gotten a
Blue Screen.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SC7 rebuffering on a wired connection!/crashing PC?

2008-01-07 Thread moley6knipe

My PC was sitting idle each time it happened; it's a Core 2 2.66Ghz with
2Gb RAM, so I don't think it's under-powered for SC7? I used to run SC
7 on a 1.6 Celeron with 1Gb RAM without these problems, and without the
music files in question doing this, which is what makes me wonder if the
music files are corrupt now.

I've tried to break my network, but it seems to be stable - it gets
100% on a network test at 4000kbps on both Cat5e lines.
