Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Is ARTISTSORT/flac working for anyone?
I've done some additional experimenting, and I am getting the most dreaded behaviour-inconsistent results. I went back to Betty Carter, checked the flac files again, saw that one was missing ARTISTSORT, added it, did a Look for New re-scan. She was listed under C :). Then I did a bit of other fiddling around, ripped and added a new disk, did a Clear Library re-scan and she was listed under B again :(. The new disk (artist Andrew Parrott-The Taverner Players) was listed under A. Then I had a look at my Keith Jarrett collection. I carefully edited out the (non-standard) REM ARTISTSORT tags from all the cuesheets (just in case they confused processing), made absolutely sure that all flac files contain an ARTISTSORT tag, and did a Clear Library re-scan. He is still listed under K. The best I can tell now from a quick look all ARTISTSORT tags are being ignored. What is the best way to proceed? I would prefer to be more specific in a bug report than ARTISTSORT handling seems to be flakey on my system and mostly doesn't work. I don't see the screen with logging checkboxes that was in 6.5.x, nor do I know what logging should be turned on if I find my way there. Assistance would be appreciated. -- stephenkca stephenkca's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7820 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43108 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta

[SlimDevices: Beta] Scanning Music Problem
After trying to test Softsqueeze 7.0, the music database seemed to stop working. This problem persisted, even after I downgraded to 6.5.x (4 or 5). I would even attempt to manually scan the music (so I could capture the error log) with the command Code: ./scanner.pl --cleanup --rescan --wipe --itunes --progress --d_info --d_import --d_itunes --d_server --d_parse --d_scan /Volumes/Users/myAccountName/Music/iTunes/iTunes\ Music The errors received were of the form: Code: ERROR: Scanner: Failed when running main scan: [Can't use an undefined value as a HASH reference at /Library/PreferencePanes/SlimServer.prefPane/Contents/server/CPAN/DBIx/Class/ResultSource.pm line 200 or Code: Slim::Schema::forceCommit (1363) Warning: Trying to commit transactions before DB is initialized! If this is a user of yours, does it have write permission to the temp folder? By default users can't write inside the Windows folder, can they? I don't remember the details in w2k, but either giving that user write permission to Windows and Windows\Temp, or moving the temp folder to c:\temp should imho fix this issue. The code is: Code: sub utf8decode_locale { my $string = shift; if ($string $] 5.007 !Encode::is_utf8($string)) { $string = Encode::decode($lc_ctype, $string, $FB_QUIET); } return $string; } Because I'm such a n00b, I'm not sure what is happening here. I think maybe the string is UTF-8 encoded, but not UTF-8 flagged, so *Encode::is_utf8* returns false, then *Encode::decode* is used to try to convert the string from the current locale (iso-8859-1) to UTF-8, even though it is already UTF-8. The string returned by *utf8decode_locale* is truncated at the position of the first accented character. In my example, 15 - Björk - It's in Our Hands.mp3 gets converted to 15 - Bj. The problem is not limited to the web interface, as in this example. The same thing happens on the Squeezebox. Does this help? How are your settings set for handling specific file types? Native or Transcoded? From the Slim Devives WIKI: In the Slimserver/Squeezebox world, this can be an important difference. The various models of Squeezebox can handle different file types internally, so given (for example) an MP3 file can decode it into music within the box. Other file types can't be handled within the Squeezebox and are transcoded, i.e. decoded in the Slimserver into another format that the Squeezebox does know how to handle (see also: Transcoding). SB2/3 natively handles MP3, WAV, AIFF, FLAC and WMA (except WMA Lossless): earlier models just MP3. See HardwareComparison. Another significant difference for a Squeezebox is that you can fast-forward or rewind with a format that can be played natively, but not one that is being transcoded. So, if you are transcoding files on your PC, then NO, you can not FF or Rewind a FLAC file. You have to play them Native on the SB3 to use this feature with FLAC files. -- iPhone iPhone Last.FM http://www.lastfm.com/user/mePhone Media Room: Transporter, Vandersteen Quatro Signature, Ayre MX-R Mono Blocks, VTL TL-6.5 Signature Pre-Amp, VCC-5 Reference Center Channel, four VSM-1 Signatures, Runco 710, RAM Oppo DV970HD, VeraStarr 6.4SE Living Room: Squeezebox 3, Vandersteen Model 3A Signature, Two 2Wq subs, VCC-2, Two VSM-1, ADCOM GTP-870HD, Cinepro 3K6SE III Gold Bedroom: Squeezebox 3, Thiel 2.3, NAD C370 iPhone's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13622 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43320 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] SqueezeNetwork Beta
SHOUTcast is working... the SB3 is no longer hanging when SHOUTcast is selected. The Web interface of betaSN for the Favorites still not working properly with more than 10 favorites. To clarify, the issue with the order of the Favorites is in the SB3 not in betaSN Web interface. When connected to betaSN I have 29 Favorites listed in the SB3, but the first favorite added is still identified as Favorite 2 and the last as Favorite 30. On the top right of the SB3 it reads the favorites correctly in order. 1 of 29 up to 29 of 29. The betaSN web interface for the favorite has 3 pages of favorites listed in order. Page 1 with ten favorites, page 2 with ten favorites and page 3 with nine favorites Btw, on the Web Interface of SC7 I just noticed a Tune URL option... is this a new feature that was added recently or was I not paying attention? -- tamanaco tamanaco's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=4620 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43182 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Stopping SqueezeCenter Fails
Did SC run before? Never had this problem with 6.x versions, up through 6.5. I meant: have you been able to access SC7 before trying to shut it down? If it wasn't running, then it can't be shut down :-). Disabled Symantec firewall; no effect. SC is running; I can exit SC; I just can't stop it. It continues running. can you telnet localhost 9090 from the command line, and get a clean, black rectangle? Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Is there some easy way to see changes in daily builds?
If you're interested in 7.0, you should switch to the testing branch. The version in unstable right now is 7.0.1, which means you're going to get less tested code. As soon as 7.0 is released, I would change to the stable branch so you don't get nightly builds. SVN is the only way you're going to get daily differences, I don't think they include subversion change lists in the deb package. -- SuperQ SuperQ's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2139 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43374 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/beta
