[SlimDevices: Beta] Lms 7.7 rc1

2011-09-11 Thread andyg

RC1 (r33410) is now available for testing:

http://downloads.slimdevices.com/LogitechMediaServer_v7.7.0_rc1/

Currently we are targeting a release around October 3, which should
leave ample time for testing.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Lms?

2011-09-11 Thread slate

Just to add a bit to the previous post.

I ripped a 2 DVD and a Blu-ray to ISO -> not shown/handled by LMS.
I then ripped the Blu-ray (EDWARD_SCISSORHAND)again with AnyDVD to get
the contents, which the scanner noticed.

Used MakeMKV (default settings)on another Blu-ray -> 7 mkv files.
Tested with my OPPO93; it plays the 6 small comments and extras. The
main mkv it loads to 50% and then states that it cannot plat the
file... OPPO also have work to do ;-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] Lms?

2011-09-11 Thread slate

Gave r33408 a spin

When it managed to scan the handfull of movies that I have rippe for
the occation it coughed on this:

[11-09-12 01:13:36.7838] Slim::Utils::Scanner::LMS::__ANON__ (229)
ERROR SCANNING
D:\film\96391438_EDWARD_SCISSORHAND_F1\BDMV\STREAM\00023.m2ts: Unable
to determine audio/video codecs(code -4)

The particular is a Blu-ray ripped with AnyDVD.
The others are:
- DVD via AnyDVD
- Blu-ray with MakeMKV

Playback still to be tested.

However both the external and internal scanner are a bit dodgy and
dies. Sometimes the server finds out that the external have died.
And it is not just the movies; I can no longer complete a scan of my
music which have otherwise scanned fine in the time I have been
squeezing ...lately 7.6.2.

According to the debug log it always dies in the classic section of my
library. Maybe it is collapses under all the tag info and lonnnggg
filenames... hmm

And finally the installation complains.. well the C++ runtime complains
because a newer version is installed

Andy, I just finished testing r33408 and posted my findings in the LMS
thread. I believe that r33402, at this point, is a little bit more
functional as it relates to UPnP plugin.

Ok, the UPnP and Image Browser plugins now load with R33408. I'm only
able to browse content and play videos using the Revue, but there no
thumbnails when I browse pictures with the Revue using this LMS build.
Using WMP I can browse the content (I can see thumbnails), but when I
try to play videos/music or view pictures the server won't stream to
WMP. There are still some issues with the Image Viewer as you can not
view pictures or see the pictures thumbnails using the Web UI. I didn't
have these specific issues with r33402. See server log messages below.

Any news on when a functioning DLNA Plugin will be available?

As yet there has been no plugin-update (unless I have missed it?) and
it means my DLNA control points still cannot browse Logithech Media

Before you get too excited, make sure to at least try it before they
release it so you can give Logitech feedback before the release
regarding things you think must be included to make it good.

My feeling, as someone who as tried it, is that it's not as
revolutionary as you make it sound.

Don't get be wrong, if LMS would be an open source server which is
extensible with third party add-ons, I'll be very excited too, but from
what I've heard so far there isn't any way for third parties to expose
things through the UPnP server so we are more or less stuck with what
Logitech provides. Still, maybe a 7.8 or 8.0 release could add the
missing parts and make it really good.

Here is one.

Does it look similar to SBS ?
That's because it is, the only news in the SBS interface is the support
for browsing your photo library, the other changes are only visible in
external UPnP clients like the Logitech Revue display on a TV.

[SlimDevices: Beta] Debian repositories slow

2011-09-11 Thread audiomuze

For a long time now I've noticed that the debian repositories are very
slow downloading SBS updates. On average I get just over 30k, sometimes
half of that down the line. Any chance this can be looked into and
rectified?

Also, what are the official stable, test and alpha repos these days? I
remember some time ago there were size mismatch errors and people used
a different repo to get around it.

Thx
