Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] 7.9 Problems/Bugs

2015-07-13 Thread Dandyman

Hi,
I just heard this just recently, NO idea how and where it was
introduced. I do believe this issue came with one of the latest updates.
Never had the problem up to ~ two weeks ago or so.

I have two systems:
1. Main system in my living room, Touch running enhanced digital output
Kernel (for 192Khz).
2. Second system, Squeezelite v1.8-566 feeding a Teach UD-301 DAC in the
office.

I have both systems synced up. I started hearing little artifacts when I
listed to music with quiet parts (like the beginning of Tracy Chapmans
Fast Car) on the main system with the Touch. It's little "pops" here and
there. I thought my power amp was dying (again) so I switched out the
power amp. Same problem.

The problem disappeared once I ended Squeezelite in the office. So I
think this could be because of streaming / timing issues. Everything is
connected via Ethernet, no WLAN.

Help is appreciated. I can deliver logs etc if you need them.

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] LMS 7.9 and DSD

2015-07-13 Thread WadDad

I want to listen real DSD without any additional conversions to other
formats. More than, conversions may adding some errors to original
signal. It's not my way. Foobar and others, as I know and do early, make
conversion to DoP (real DSD in PCM packets) and linear PCM (88.2 or
176.4 kHz). I believe that last method is not correct.

OK then I to understands better . If you have a Touch you use EDO with
DoP .

It's outside my knowledge what can you do with a squeezelite based
player ? there is a -D option someone with a minicomputer with
Squeezelite may know I don't

You are rigth that 24/88.2 is certainly not DSD ,but its transparent to
humans anyway .That way you can hear the music with no percievable
quality loss (but not as DSD) but it's must be better than not hearing
the music at all ?
Foobar2000 dBpower amp and you can certainly google some other nice
programs that does this for you .

My use case is that I have very few DSD files (I only buy DSD when there
is no PCM options to buy ) and a systems that is 100% pcm , So use
DSDplay to transcode .

I use a HP microservers it's x86 cpu , but it's a couple of years old it
may be better products now .
