Or is this pointless ? Muso cannot handle custom tags (yet, apart from the TrackStat integration), but otherwise I think it displays the information in the SBS database in a better way than the web UI. Have a look at how the artist page is structured into several sections. First, it lists all the albums where the artist is the album artist. In the next section it lists all non VA albums where the artist is a track artist (duets and guest appearances etc.). Then it lists all VA albums where the artist is a track artist. The last section lists all albums where the artist is the composer. Only the relevant tracks are shown in each section. All information about album artist, track artists and composers are shown as well as rating and track, album and disc length. You can by one mouse click sort the list ascending or descending according to year or album name. You can choose to show all tracks alphabetically. You can play/add all songs by the artist, one song, one album or one disc in a multi disc album. All this was much improved during development so if you checked out an early beta I recommend a revisit. -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wired), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPhone 4 & iPad, muso on remote computer running Win 7 64-bit | 7.5.4 on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87813 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Another vote for muso. I especially like that muso is able to show, really large, all cover art (back, inside, booklet, CD, etc.) images stored in the same folder as the files of an album. Maybe that makes a > difference? This is on 7.5.3, i.e. MySQL. When I said track artist I meant an artist (only) appearing (alone or with another artist) on an album with a compilation 1 tag (and no album artist tag for the cases I checked). I do not know what contributor role the artist has been assigned in the SBS database. I have never understood the difference, if any, between the artist and track artist roles. In genres I never really browse the artist list, which I find superfluous, but rather go directly to all albums (or use the shallow CB genre menu). I have set the option to show only songs in the selected genre for an artist. The two examples I just checked with an artist only appearing on one track on an album with an album artist set, one album with compilation 1 set and one without compilation tag, did not show up in the appropriate genre artist list. Thus, it seems like only (what I call) track artists show up in that list along with album artists on all albums, with or without compilation 1 set. An album artist (a poet, Nils Ferlin) only appearing as an album artist on one compilation 1 album (and as composer on several albums) showed up in that list but is not shown in the standard "master" artist list. -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wired), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPhone 4 & iPad, muso on remote computer running Win 7 | 7.5.3 on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=84475 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

After that, scanning works again. -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wireless), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPod Touch, muso on remote computer running Win XP | 7.4.2 on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=71629 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Mp3Tag, or Foobar 2000, has been recommended, see around post 26 above. -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wireless), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPod Touch, muso on remote computer running Win XP | 7.4.2 on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70456 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

I am quite sure that doing just this will not work when erland wants to remove ID3v2 and keep the Vorbis comments. Before deleting (or cutting) MP3TAG reports "FLAC (FLAC ID3v2)" and after it reports "(ID3v2)" and no tags are visible. After an undo (or paste) it is all back to how it was from the beginning. I have set MP3TAG to delete all tags för mpeg, including ID3v2. - I do not know how to use Foobar 2000 for this. Foobar only reports the Vorbis comments and I do not know how to delete the ID3v2 part in Foobar. Anyway, this was a useful thread. Andyg, may I ask what SBS will store for album artist if there are conflicting TPE2 and TXXX ALBUMARTIST tags in a mp3 file and the option to treat TPE2 as album artist is selected. I ask because I found out that J. River MediaCenter automatically writes both those tags and I may have altered only the TPE2 tag with other software. -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wireless), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPod Touch, muso on remote computer running Win XP | 7.4.2 on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70456 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta

Re: [SlimDevices: Beta] bug 8380 - read all mp3 tag versions
I hope this is not too off topic since it relates to reading mp3 tag data (ID3v2): In the release notes for v. 7.4.1. I saw this: > Re-added support for ID3v2 tags in FLAC files. Could someone please explain what this means if a flac file contains both Vorbis comments and ID3v2 data. For example, what happens if there is a Vorbis comment ALBUMARTIST and a TPE2 ID3v2 tag with different content? I ask because I have some flac files for which MP3TAG reports that they contain also ID3v2 data, but I cannot see the ID3v2 data in MP3TAG or get rid of the ID3v2 part (http://forums.mp3tag.de/index.php?showtopic=10330&st=0&gopid=40909&#entry40909 and http://forums.slimdevices.com/showpost.php?p=474060&postcount=28). I am afraid that SBS now will read the ID3v2 data I cannot control. An option to inspect which tags SBS is aware of would be welcome. -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wireless), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPod Touch, muso on remote computer running Win XP | 7.4.1 on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70456 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
[SlimDevices: Beta] Firmware: Failed to download
In my server.log (SBS 7.4.2 r28987 on Win XP) I get error messages like this all the time. Code: [09-10-24 13:14:49.1105] Slim::Utils::Firmware::downloadAsyncError (557) Warning: Firmware: Failed to download http://update.mysqueezebox.com/update/firmware/7.4.2/jive.version (404 Not Found), will try again in 160 minutes. I guess it is because there seems to be no .../7.4.2/... directory yet... The Controller works OK though with SBS (I do not use SN). -- vagskal 2 x SB3 (wired), Receiver (wireless), Boom (wireless), Controller, iPeng on iPod Touch, muso on remote computer running Win XP | 7.4.1 on Win XP vagskal's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=20778 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=70289 ___ beta mailing list beta@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/beta
