The binaries have not been update, but there was some bug in the
accompanying files in the texmf tree -- which makes it rather easy to
fix the problem.

> There doesn't seem to be a Mac-packaged version of TexLive 2009 yet -

You don't have to do that, just copy the files to your local texmf tree.

Below is a quote from a posting I wrote to the MacTeX list some months
ago, which should help.
I removed the files again after the fix appeared inside
TexLiveUtility, so you should be able to remove them as well after
TeXLive 2009 is released.

like probably most of us, I sometimes have to generate Word versions
of my papers.
I usually use tex4ht/htlatex for that.

Now I tried the first time after I switched to biblatex and found that
I ended up with zillions of error messages. I found out however that
the problems were caused by some incompatibility between tex4ht and
biblatex and have been fixed in the latest release of tex4ht.

Updating to the latest release was not so easy however:
I first tried to update tex4ht via TexLiveUtility, but there I found
only some binary packages in the "Manage Packages" section.

Therefore I tried to update manually:
When I downloaded the latest version of tex4ht from
http://www.cse.ohio-state.edu/~gurari/TeX4ht/bugfixes.html
I saw that the binaries were unchanged compared to the MacTeX-2008
distribution but some of the files which go to the texmf tree were
updated. I copied the files from the texmf directory of the tex4ht
distribution to my local texmf tree which fixed the problems with
biblatex.

Are you using the most recent version of htlatex? (I had problems with
an earlier version.)
Did you update your installation using TexLiveUtility?
(Today, you wold have to install the update manually since the update
option seems to be disabled until the next big release of TL.)

I am using

mk4ht oolatex filename.tex

to convert files to OpenOffice files, which can be converted to Word
by OpenOffice.
This seems to work fine with biblatex.

If this doesn't help, you should provide a minimal example!

Let me add some details:
The nightlies do not generate too much traffic. In most months the
traffic was below 2 or 3 GB/month, with a peak of 7 GB in one month
last year.
I had reserved 350 MB of webspace, 200 or 250 should be enough as well
however.

Basically, what is provided with most web hosting plans should be more
than enough to meet these requirements.

The reason to cancel my offer simply is that I want switch to another
provider who unfortunately does not allow to set up more than one FTP
login, and I don't think it is a good idea to share my master login
with the person(s) who upload nightly builds.
So if anybody has a hosting plan with some space and traffic he does
not use, and has the possibility to set up a reserved area with a
specific FTP login, this is what we are looking for ;-)

Best regards,
Matthias

That's a good moment to learn the virtues of a modern, user-friendly
LaTeX installation like the one you have on your Mac with TeXShop and
BibDesk ...

Seriously, even if it might seem "easy" to use the terminal right now,
that will probably change once you have to deal with several files etc.

Hmm, you might want to consider using vi as editor :-)

Seriously:
If you find pressing several buttons too inconvenient, you can create
a TeXShop "engine" file, that's a script which does several tasks
automatically.
See the archive of the MacTeX list for information about that and
probably also TeXShop's documentation.

Well, that's how LaTeX works, it just needs several runs to accomplish
specific tasks.

I don't really understand what you are doing.
Are you running pdflatex and bibtex from the terminal?

That's not necessary -- if you are using TeXShop, you can just start
those programs with the buttons TeXShop provides.

Of course you will have to run BibTeX each time you add new
references, and you might have to run pdflatex several times to see
the changes in your document.

If that does not work, you should create a complete minimal example
and post it here (or even better: on the MacTeX list), so that your
problem can be reproduced!

I have been trying out the Web Groups feature lately, and I find it
absolutely amazing.

However I think it does not work properly sometimes:

The problem I have seen is that sometimes the list of the "Import"
links is not updated properly.
When this happens, the list stays as it is even if I switch to the
next page of Google Scholar results, do another search or open another
page. Only restarting BibDesk makes the search useable again. This
does not happen always, sometimes everything works as expected. This
might not be a very helpful error description, but I don't know what
other info I could give? (I'm running 10.5.1 on an Intel Macbook,
problem exists with the latest stable release and with the latest
nightly.)

I also have a couple of feature requests:
- It was great if you could save a web group with a fixed start page,
for example a web group that always starts with Google Scholar.

Some options on what happens after an item is imported could also be a
nice improvement:
- It was nice if the item was opened after import, just like the
option for items imported via dragging.
- It was also helpful if there was an option to automatically re-
generate the cite key for imported items.
- Perhaps it could also be useful if a list of fields could be
specified that should never be imported.

Nevertheless the web import is one of the greatest improvements to
BibDesk ever. Thanks a lot!

Best regards,
Matthias

The only message from BibDesk there is

finishing writing metadata cache.

But that seems to happen every time I quit BD after I changed

O.k.
Speaking of bookmarks: Shouldn't the bookmarked page load when a
bookmark is selected but the Web panel is not open? When I select a
bookmark the Web panel is opened, but the URL is not loaded. Only when
I select the Bookmark again, it is loaded.

Would I have to leave the Web group if just the edit window for the

That doesn't work for me:
