[Ontbirds] SUMMER TANAGER, Edgelake Park, Stoney Creek, May 12
Hey, About 10 minutes ago I discovered an adult male Summer Tanager across from edgelake park in stoney creek. It's currently in the top of a leafed out deciduous tree coloured with green and rusty buds. This tree is directly behind s tree with a black beware of dog sign. It's catching the odd bee but otherwise not moving so patience will be required to see it move. Qew niagara to centennial pkwy go left to north service road. [Ontbirds] Rondeau Update May 12, 2015
Good afternoon, Birding remains slow today at Rondeau, but dedicated birders are still finding some good birds. Clearly I am not a dedicated birder as I'm posting this while watching an American Avocet in Leamington! A Yellow-breasted Chat was seen on the east side of South Point Trail, about 500 m from the parking lot. Prothonotary Warblers continue to be seen on Tulip Tree Trail and Bennett Rd. A Hooded Warbler has been seen in the bushes right behind the visitor centre. Thank you to everyone who contributed sightings and please continue to do so at the Visitor Centre or to me through email. eBird users submitting checklists from the park are encouraged to share them with the username "RondeauPPVisitorCentre" for our records. [Ontbirds] Point Pelee NP Migration Report -May 12, 2015
It is a blustery day at Point Pelee today. This has kept many birds down low and sheltered on the East side of the Park. Not as many birds have been reported as a result of the conditions. Those that braved the Tip were rewarded with a few good species. A California Gull rested for a few minutes before disappearing. Sanderling and Dunlin were noted on the beach. Also seen a Red-headed Woodpecker, Clay-colored Sparrow, a Black-billed Cuckoo, and an Eastern Bluebird. A Canada Warbler was reported from near the 42 Latitude sign near the washrooms at the Tip. Bobolink was seen in the Sparrow Field. There was a Louisiana Waterthrush seen on the seasonal trail near the wet area in Tilden Woods. Also noted in Tilden was a Gray-cheeked Thrush. A Summer Tanager was noted at the Cactus Field as well as a Blue-winged Warbler. A Kentucky Warbler was just reported from 100 m north of Dunes Picnic Area on the Centennial Bike Trail. A report has come in that there was a Glossy Ibis and American Avocet in the shorebird cell at Hillman Marsh Conservation Area. [Ontbirds] Rondeau Provincial Park Migration Report May 12, 2015
Good morning birders, A windy morning here at Rondeau today, and it has been fairly hard to find birds. However, there seems to be some concentrations in areas leeward of dense forest (generally on the east side of the park). A male and female Cerulean Warbler were reported from South Point Trail. Prothonotary Warblers continue to be seen at the back of Tulip Tree Trail. The Kirtland's Warbler has been looked for more or less continuously since it was first seen, and as far as I know has not been since mid-day yesterday. It may still be around, as there was not much movement of birds last night, but has clearly moved away from its original location on Harrison Trail south of Pony Barn.
