[Ontbirds] Brambling, North Bay

2014-11-27 Thread Renee Levesque
The Brambling continues to be seen this afternoon. Makes frequent appearances
on lawn, at the feeders and in the trees around the property and across the
street at Sweetman's Gardens. Owner is fine with your viewing the bird, but
please do not block the driveway and do not go on lawn. Can be seen easily and
readily from paved driveway. Brambling hangs out with the many Evening
Grosbeaks.

Located on private property at 1025 McIntyre Street West. Take Main Street
West to Cormack Street, right on Cormack Street and then a left on McIntrye.
It is the only house on the left side of the road after turning off Cormack.

[Ontbirds] Brambling, North Bay

2014-11-27 Thread richardtafel
The Brambling is present again today, Thursday, its second day at this site.
It feeds on the ground, often with a large group of Evening Grosbeaks -
close under a number of feeders, on the property of Vic Rizzo at 1025
McIntyre St. W. in North Bay.
Vic asks that no one come upon the lawn, but stay upon the pavement, next to
the lawn area. As said before, please park on the street(s) nearby. The bird
is quite easily spooked, but with patience, one should be able to see it
well from the edge of the driveway. Vic can, if necessary, be reached at his
cell - 705 493-8112.
McIntyre St. is just one block from Main Street at the westerly edge of
North Bay. North Bay can be reached within 3 1/2 hours of no stop-light
driving from Toronto.
The bird is a readily identified, non-breeding adult. Very pretty! Very
unusual for Ontario. (none sighted here for the past 20 years?)

[Ontbirds] Brambling- North Bay

2014-11-26 Thread Renee Levesque
Dick Tafel and I surprisingly saw a Brambling on McIntyre Street West this
afternoon around 2 pm. The owner of the home where we saw it says it has been
around his property since this morning. It is feeding on sunflower seeds on the
ground, often with a large flock of Evening Grosbeaks, but sometimes by itself.

The owner says those who want to see it can view it in his yard at the side of
his house. However, because he has tenants, the driveway cannot be blocked.
Park on the other side of the street or elsewhere near the home.

The home is located at 1025 McIntyre Street West, on the left side at the end
of McIntyre Street West, just after crossing Cormack Street.

I was able to take some photos through a glassed screened door. If you want to
see a photo, please email me directly.
