[Ontbirds] Summer Tanager - Toronto Islands

2018-05-05 Thread Gavin Platt via ONTBIRDS
We just had a Summer Tanager on Toronto Islands (on the OFO trip). It's by the
daycare building on Algonquin Island, which is at the west end of Algonquin
Island. First spotted by Eric Baldo.

[Ontbirds] Summer Tanager - Toronto Still Present

2014-05-18 Thread Christopher Escott via ONTBIRDS
The first year male Summer Tanager I reported yesterday was present all
day today, in and around my back yard and ranging around the
neighbourhood. It visits my suet feeder every 15 - 30 minutes and by
mid-morning started singing fairly regularly. If anyone's interested in
trying to see it, please call first.

I live 1 km north of Bessarion Station on the Sheppard Subway Line. The
station is on Sheppard Avenue between Bayview and Leslie, where
Bessarion Road goes to the south and Burbank Drive to the north.

[Ontbirds] Summer Tanager - Toronto

2014-05-17 Thread Christopher Escott via ONTBIRDS
At 5:15 p.m. today, and again fifteen minutes later, I observed a first
year male Summer Tanager dining at my back yard suet feeder. Wings and
lower belly were olive-yellow and the remainder of the bird's plumage
was red.

I live in Bayview Village, about 1 km north on Burbank from Bessarion
Subway Station on Sheppard Avenue (between Leslie Bayview). My feeders
are not visible from the road, and difficult to get to from the valley
behind my house, and it remains to be seen if the bird will stick around.
