The bird is being viewed now sleeping on a green buoy on the American side.

I'm parked at the end of Bowen Rd in Fort Erie.

Hi

The Brown Pelican continues to be seen in Fort Erie. It spends most of its time
resting on buoys on the U.S. side This morning it
crossed into Canadian waters twice between 8:25 and 9:00 am.

A navigation chart can be found on the noaa web site. The chart number is
14832. It shows the Canada/U.S. border and the buoys.

Observed from the Niagara Parkway close to the end of Bowen Toad. There is a
pull off on the river side.

Re: [Ontbirds] Brown Pelican in Fort Erie

2017-05-29 Thread Josh Vandermeulen via ONTBIRDS
For those contemplating making the drive, the Brown Pelican had been seen
regularly throughout the day. I just finished watching it with Blayne and Jean
Farnan and Cecilia Verkley. It spent most of the time perched on one of the
large green buoys close to the New York shore. It had been flying around and
fishing earlier.

This is the 3rd day that the Brown Pelican has been seen along the Buffalo/Fort
Erie waterfront. It tends to favour the area between Strawberry Island and the
north end of Unity Island.

Good birding,
