block's version of the program. I had my taxes done and filed in less than
an hour. And I did this with no sited help at all. I'm using Jaws 10 and

Cliff,

I don't really understand what your problem is. I have a question for
you. How come the date is shown with dashes instead of slashes? You
have 2-6-09 whereas I normally use 2/6/09.

Are you saying that the date and the number that represents the date
is in your cell? I went into Excel and typed your first date and when I did a
Ctrl+F2 on that cell, the result was 39850, but that number is the
formula for the date which is not displayed with the date. I am
wondering if there is some feature in Excel that displays the formula

Hi Steve,

There must be something wrong with your keyboard manager or something else,
as the keystrokes I mentioned are Windows Keyboard commands.

If you go to the view menu, then to the go to sub-menu, you'll find the
hotkeys right beside the back and forward commands.

You should check if these are available in those menus, because if they
aren't, then there's something wrong with your display.

As well, contrary to what Eric wrote, these commands have been around since
Windows 98, and should work on all makes of Windows from then on.

Like I said, in a window, go to the go to menu, and see if those commands
are available.

If they aren't, then you've got other problems.

I think he meant deleting messages on GMail's webmail, not in an email
client. I think the basic view is still more accessible but then there is no
"select all" button so you need to go thru messages selecting one by one by
checking the checkboxes, then press the delete button if you want to delete
the message; that will still just move the message to the trash so you need
to go to trash and there you'll find a button "delete forever". I think on
default GMail is set to archive messages; anyway, to archive a message you
go to the combobox that says "more actions" and the first item there is
"archive"; select that, tab once to "go" and press enter on it.

Hi

Press Ctrl+a to select all messages and then press Delete to delete them.

If you want to archive some messages it is possible to select individual
messages by pressing and holding Ctrl and move up and down with the up and
down arrow.
To select a message press the spacebar.

When you have selected the messages you want to archive just press the
Application key on the keyboard, a menu should appear where you can select
copy/move messages etc.

I suppose this differs from email client to email client, but the keyboard
shortcuts I mention here should work since they are standard Windows
keyboard commands.

At least they work fine in Mozilla Thunderbird.

NB! do not release the ctrl key until you have slected the messages you want
to archive.

Re: [Blind-Computing] hotkey for "back"

2009-02-28 Thread David Griffith
No It is not true that you need vista to do this.
This can be done perfectly well in XP.
As you say pressing backspace will move back one folder and land on the
first file in that folder .
If however you want to move back one folder with the focus on the last file
or folder highlighted you simply use alt plus left cursor key instead.

Marilyn it doesn't do any good, we went through that years ago, we are not a
large enough segment of the market and they just don't care. I and several
others contacted Intuit about access for blind users along with Eric from
what was then Henter/Joyce and got no where. The interview method has also
been totaly inaccessible but untill this year the forms method could be used
with the jaws cursor and a lot of struggling.

Hello, I have several thousand music files on an external hard drive, when
I open a file or folder in the list and want to close it, I press "spacebar
and backspace". This returns me back to the list of files and folders but
it takes me back to the first folder in the list.

Is there a key combination that will take me back to where I was in the list

  Any help would be appreciated.

  Hi Steve,

The hot key is alt+left arrow.

If you find that you have to go back into the folder, that same hotkey is
  alt+right arrow.

So alt+left arrow to go back, both in Windows explorer or Internet explorer,
and alt+right arrow to go forward to the same spot you were just in.

  Hope this helps.

was correct. I can't understand why they make it so hard to use this and

Re: [Blind-Computing] Deleting various messages in Gmail

2009-02-28 Thread Øyvind Lode

sorry!

I did not read your message thoroughly...

Personally I prefer using a email client.

I have configured my gmail account to use imap and then I can access it
in Thunderbird.

I find that much more efficient then the web interface.

At least they work fine in Mozilla Thunderbird.

NB! do not release the ctrl key until you have slected the messages you

Hello, I have several thousand music files on an external hard drive,
when
I open a file or folder in the list and want to close it, I press
"spacebar

and backspace". This returns me back to the list of files and folders but
it takes me back to the first folder in the list.

Is there a key combination that will take me back to where I was in the
list

instead of taking me back to the top of the list of files?

Any help would be appreciated.

  Hi Steve,

The hot key is alt+left arrow.

If you find that you have to go back into the folder, that same hotkey is
  alt+right arrow.

So alt+left arrow to go back, both in Windows explorer or Internet explorer,

and alt+right arrow to go forward to the same spot you were just in.

  Hope this helps.

Re: [Blind-Computing] hotkey for "back"

2009-02-28 Thread Steve Crews
Hello, Pressing "alt plus left arrow" actually seems to ge shifting the
info on the monitor to the left.
Pressing "alt plus right arrow" seems to be shifting the info on the monitor
to the right on the screen.
Alt plus left or right arrow doesn't seem to have any effect as far as
closing a file and returning back to the main list of files.

[Blind-Computing] hotkey for "back"

2009-02-28 Thread Steve Crews
Hello, I have several thousand music files on an external hard drive, when
I open a file or folder in the list and want to close it, I press "spacebar
and backspace". This returns me back to the list of files and folders but
it takes me back to the first folder in the list.

Is there a key combination that will take me back to where I was in the list
instead of taking me back to the top of the list of files?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

If you want to archive some messages it is possible to select individual

To select a message press the spacebar.

When you have selected the messages you want to archive just press the
Application key on the keyboard, a menu should appear where you can
select copy/move messages etc.

I suppose this differs from email client to email client, but the
keyboard shortcuts I mention here should work since they are standard
Windows keyboard commands.

At least they work fine in Mozilla Thunderbird.

NB! do not release the ctrl key until you have slected the messages you
want to archive.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Deleting various messages in Gmail

2009-02-28 Thread Martina Letochová
I think he meant deleting messages on GMail's webmail, not in an email
client. I think the basic view is still more accessible but then there is no
"select all" button so you need to go thru messages selecting one by one by
checking the checkboxes, then press the delete button if you want to delete
the message; that will still just move the message to the trash so you need
to go to trash and there you'll find a button "delete forever". I think on
default GMail is set to archive messages; anyway, to archive a message you
go to the combobox that says "more actions" and the first item there is
"archive"; select that, tab once to "go" and press enter on it.

Martina

Re: [Blind-Computing] Free Registry Cleaner

2009-02-28 Thread David Whitehead

Hello Marilyn;

ok, lets see if we can't help you here;

assuming you have installed and registered the program,

1, navigate desktop, and enter on the quicksys icon,

2, now, you need to route Jaws to Pc, insert+minus on the numpad,

3, now, do a ctrl+home, to go top of screen,

4, now, start down arrowing until you hear; "scan registry",

5, now, you need to have your cursor, sitting on, the S of scan, and then?
use the left click on the numpad.

this will start the scan process.

I hope this helps.
