I also just checked CDW to see if it would change my mind. Same as others
for the ASUS 1005 HA Series. Lowest is $349.99. Hope this helps.

I use Amazon all of the time, but on purchases like this I prefer to order
by phone as well. I have used Dell and CDW.com to work out the details and
get technical support. CDW provides excellent technical support and has a
liberal, easy return policy.

The main thing look at those Netbook is they are from the 1005 or 1000
series. The newest. I had one other person on the list telling me he found
it for cheaper but it was an older model the 900 series. That's why it was
$40 cheaper. Hope this helps.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Unable to order my netbook today from amazon

2009-07-16 Thread Rogelio Terrazas
They did say I had to wait two weeks. The reason I stuck with the order is
because they were the ones that were truthful. They orientated me a little
as far as Netbooks go. Where all the other companies just tried to scam me.
And they gave me the best price I could get. And I did a lot of research on
the topic. It is up to you if you want to wait. They have me on what is
called back order status. It has on their web site what that means. It is
on the page of the Netbook I ordered. It says it usually takes 1 - 2 weeks.
The model I ordered is the Asus 1005 HAB Midnight Blue. With the external
CD/DVD drive and shipping it was $408 in total. If you want to wait it is
up to you. I love doing business with companies that are truthful. The
closest I could find for the same Netbook was $349.99, when I am paying
$299.99. The external CD/DVD drive is 64.99. Even the external drive they
wanted $80 to 120.00 at other companies. If you need any further assistance
feel free to let me know. Mine is paid for I am just waiting. A week or
two for good hones business people I could wait.

Hi Samson,

I just ran Revo the other day and I went ahead to select all and
deleted the registry entries. The program I uninstalled could not be
removed with the normal add and remove in the control panel.

However, Revo did a fine job and the program is gone. I did do a
registry backup and created a restore point before I ran Revo just in
case. It pays to be cautious although the people on this and other
lists assured me that they did not have any problems after removing
the registry entries and related folders and files.

Good luck!

Hello,
I am pretty sure that your netbook will already have a recovery
partition. However, if you still want to create a partition, I use
partimage or whatever it's called in Linux, I am not sure if there's a
version of it for windows. When I was in windows land, I used one
called partition magic, but it is not free, and I do not not any
alternative free partioning software that is free and accessible.
Also, I believe but am not sure, that windows 7 premium editions will
allow you to create partitions within windows, but I am not completely
sure about this.

Thanks

Good evening everyone on list. This afternoon when I was with my reader,
we called Amazon's customer service to try and ask questions about an asus
netbook that I was wishing too order, and I was told by the customer
representative there, that I could only place an order on line. Has anyone
else on any of the two lists here, experienced the same problem? And if
not, should I have told the rep that I was a customer with a disability? Or

is there specific customer service department that I should have called
that deals with customers with disabilities? If that's the case, could
someone please put that number on list please? I really don't like ordering

on line, as I like the personal touch that talking with someone in person by

Re: [Blind-Computing] Google Voice?

2009-07-16 Thread Donald Marang
I received an Google Voice invitation as well. I was excited to try their
service! However, I screwed up during the sign up process! Their WebPages
are difficult to activate links, radio buttons, and buttons with JAWS. I am
using JAWS 10.0.512. Perhaps, the latest version will work better with
these controls. I got to the page where you can select a phone number from
a list. I entered my area code and it presents a list of available numbers.
Each number has a radio button before the number. Most of the controls on
the page are not recognized by JAWS. I don't know if they are buttons or
links. Pressing Enter on the word may activate it anyway. In my case, I
picked a number and attempted to activate the button to go to the next page.
Nothing would activate it. So I unloaded JAWS and started up System Access
To Go. SAtoGo did even worse with the page. It could not even recognize
that there were radio buttons in front of the phone numbers. This is where
I made a fatal mistake. I attempted to shut down System Access. My
computer went from sluggish to the point that pressing Windows + m, would
not go to the desktop even after 30 minutes. At that point, pressing Alt +
Control + Delete would not work, so I had to hold down the power button to
shut down. After I restarted, I attempted to sign up again, but the
invitation was no longer valid! Who knows if I will get another chance.

So my conclusion is to complete the entire sign in process exclusively using
the latest version of JAWS 10! I have heard that others have done so
successfully with some difficulty.

Good luck!

Don Marang

Good luck!

2009-07-16 Thread Jon Pierson
Hi Julio,
You are almost there with setting your folder and files to list view with
alt plus v.
Once you have done that alt plus v keystroke as you usually do when entering
a folder, follow the below steps.
Next go to tools with Alt plus t and then Folder Options with the letter o.
Then control tab to the view tab and press alt plus l to set all folders to
match the current view.
You will be asked if you really want to do this, hit the letter y.
next tab to the ok button and press enter.
Now each time you open a folder you will have a list view.

Jon

I noticed something. My Netbook comes with XP Home Service 3. What is the
difference if it came with service pack 2 or 1? I am thinking about
keeping

XP in my Netbook.
