Hi Dan,
Make sure that none of the items under that menu are selected.
You have to hit enter on them individually to uncheck them so it's necessary
to go back in there until you have unchecked them all.
I'm stumped beyond that.

it would save lots of time.
Thanks in advance for any ideas and Thanks David for this very valuable

Re: [Blind-Computing] Itunes

2009-08-02 Thread Chris Hallsworth
There are keystrokes for this, but there is a clash when pressing it with
JAWS as they are used to navigate in tables. So what I do is
CTRL+alt+windows+left to skip back five seconds or so or
CTRL+alt+windows+right to do skip forward five or so seconds. Other screen
readers (or no screen reader loaded at all) will not exhibit this clash and
you can use the proper keystrokes.

I have had dell computers in the past as well. they are good and reliable

Re: [Blind-Computing] asus computer company

2009-08-02 Thread ChB
If discussion about computer related issues is not welcome on a compunting
list, than what is? I can just as well not contribute anything anymore, my
computers are all up and running. I was under the believe that some of these
issues in the past may have been of interest to a few of the subscribers.
If we take, topic related materials all in private, then would good does a
list do? I read lots of stuff on here that may not be of interest to me, but
it may be of great interest to the next person. The world does not revolve
around me...thank g-d

Hi,
Now I mentioned no names and have of course (despite your obvious ignorance
and you can check the archives) contributed to the group.
Guilty conscience perhaps?
Hey if there was an "incompetent" person on this list well, isn't asking
questions and learning the whole point, to gain such knowledge and become
less so?
Talk about getting personal for no reason.
Hey mods, does this quallify him for a public slapping?
 If not, I'm gone.

They supposedly build top of the line motherboards. That is what they're
known for. That is what they make most of their money on.

how many years of warranty they come I do not know. I know mine comes with
two years warranty and servicing.
I have had dell computers in the past as well. they are good and reliable
unless you want top upgrade and are stuck with using their hardware
sometimes, which is one thing I did not like about them. other than that, no

complaints.but to compare a full blown desktop pc to a netbook is apples and

oranges anyway, because they are two seperate market clientels altogether.
you do know that asus builds for dell, don't you?

Re: [Blind-Computing] asus computer company

2009-08-02 Thread ChB
how many years of warranty they come I do not know. I know mine comes with
two years warranty and servicing.
I have had dell computers in the past as well. they are good and reliable
unless you want top upgrade and are stuck with using their hardware
sometimes, which is one thing I did not like about them. other than that, no
complaints.but to compare a full blown desktop pc to a netbook is apples and
oranges anyway, because they are two seperate market clientels altogether.

you do know that asus builds for dell, don't you?

right away or takes a while, if so how long. Can you post one of the non

Re: [Blind-Computing] asus computer company

2009-08-02 Thread Rogelio Terrazas
Sometimes when their are new models that are lacking something then it takes
time to get out there. If anyone has done substantial research, I doubt you
are going to find anything of the new models on the net. If so, show me,
the 1005 HA models. What more reliable source than the maker himself. I am
welcoming anyone to e-mail off list and I will call them on three way so
they can hear them tell me themselves. As I am going to start a 2 year
computer training and a glich like that and I will get kicked out of the
training. They are not going to allow me to continuously fix that problem.
I will stack my new Toshiba anyday of the week against anAsus. Remember
these netbooks by the name brand companies are new. This is why there is
not much feedback about them. In having had a Toshipa in 97 I know quality.
It is quality not quantity.

Actually asus just celebrated their 20th company anniversary this year.
The
company was founded in 1989. So I would not exactly consider this a
'new'

no

They only restructured their company in 2005, I believe, and changed
their

name from acertek to asus (tek), in the process.
I also did some research yesterday about this netbook in various
independent
messageboards and forums, that are dealing with computer issues. While,
after researching various test sites, this particcular model is
certainly

not the biggest bang for money, techwise, I did not find anything that
would
point to a common malfunction associated with this particular model. So
I

cannot for the world explain, why the 'tech guy' would advise that this
was
a malfunction that was common and could not be helped. I would think, if
this was the case there would have been some big recall action been
taken,

since the launch of this model netbook.
While I, in no way, am aware of the details on what exactly happened
when

or
how or if something was done to the netbook while setting it up and
running
it, I am assuming that maybe just a chain of unfortunate events, led to
this. Or this was one of those so-called Monday products, that had some
issues to begin with.
I am not an asus user myself, but using a lenovo netbook. I paid the
equivalent of 350 euro, when I purchased it and it came with bluetooth,
integrated webcam, wlan, card reader and so forth. I am very pleased
with

it. Especially after upgrading my memory to 2 gigs. So if anyone is oin

The reason these netbooks are so cheap is that they use inferior components
and shoddy construction. Does Asus offer a three year warranty on its
products like Dell? I don't think so. To me, a PC is a long-term
commitment, not a throwaway commodity. I'm in no financial position to run
out and buy a new PC every six months, which is about the life span of some
of this garbage. So for now, I'll stick with my 30 pound Dell workstation,
which is built like a tank.

such
problems.

Re: [Blind-Computing] re yahoo groups not getting my messages

Do you get a non delivery response back? And, if so, does it come back
right away or takes a while, if so how long. Can you post one of the non
delivery responses.

Both Asus and Lenovo have had highly commendable mention in the publication,
Smart Computing. I've read the magazine ever since it became part of our
magazine program, and I've always found their evaluations to be right on
target.

Actually asus just celebrated their 20th company anniversary this year.
The
company was founded in 1989. So I would not exactly consider this a 'new'
no

name company.
They only restructured their company in 2005, I believe, and changed their
name from acertek to asus (tek), in the process.
I also did some research yesterday about this netbook in various
independent

messageboards and forums, that are dealing with computer issues. While,
after researching various test sites, this particcular model is certainly
not the biggest bang for money, techwise, I did not find anything that
would

point to a common malfunction associated with this particular model. So I
cannot for the world explain, why the 'tech guy' would advise that this
was

a malfunction that was common and could not be helped. I would think, if
this was the case there would have been some big recall action been taken,
since the launch of this model netbook.
While I, in no way, am aware of the details on what exactly happened when
or
how or if something was done to the netbook while setting it up and
running

it, I am assuming that maybe just a chain of unfortunate events, led to
I am very pleased with
it. Especially after upgrading my memory to 2 gigs. So if anyone is oin
the

market for a new netbook, this one might be interesting to check out.
