[Blind-Computing] Problem With Malware Bytes

2010-01-21 Thread Gerald Levy

This morning, I tried to launchMalware Bytes and got a dialog box with the
following error message: "VB accelerator sgrit ii run time error 0". When I
hit the Okay button, the only button in this dialog, another dialog box popped
up with the error message "run time error 440: Automation Error". When I hit
the Okay button, the program closed. What the heck is going on? I ran Malware
Bytes last week with no problem.

 Hi,
When I was given instructions what I wanted to do did not work. When you
follow the instructions I will outline, you will only change the user name
that is on the start menu and the log on window.
1. Windows key r and type in regedit.
2. Down arrow until you hear HKEY_local machine. This will be a treeview,
so right arrow to expand it.
3. down arrow or press the letter S until you hear software and right arrow
there as well.
4. Arrow down to Microsoft or press M until you hear Microsoft and right
arrow.
5.. Now press W or down arrow until you hear windows NT and right arrow
again to open the treeview.
6. After expanding the treview, tab into the list, press "r" without the
quotes until you hear registered owner.
7. Now if your cursor is placed on the registered owner, press alt E for
edit and enter on modify.
Type in the name and click ok.
As everyone has told me be careful not to make any unnecessary
changes/mistakes while in the registry because you can possibly mess
something up. So please be careful and let me know how it works for you.

Re: [Blind-Computing] interpreting aslogics results

2010-01-21 Thread John Justice

I can take a stab at this one if you'd like, Kim.
A "defragmented" file is one in which various elements or parts of the file
have been returned to a complete single entry. That is always best of
course since the file, theoretically will operate faster.
Conversely, a "fragmented file" is one in which this has not been done. In
order to make the best possible use of all the space on a hard drive, larger
files will be "fragmented" and the parts or "elements" will be stored
wherever there is room. When you call a file like this, there is rarely
anything that tells you the file is fragmented other than the fact that it
might take a bit longer to load.

In conclusion then, a defragmented file has been reconnected so to speak and
is now a complete item. I'm sure you already know this but if you have
enough fragmented files on your disk, it can seriously impact the unit's
performance. This is especially true when a large capacity hard drive is
involved and has not been provided with compartments or sub-drives.

I hope that this helps.

Try this;

2. Press control + tab to go to the " Computer name " page.
3. Now, tab to the " change " choice and press space bar. I have not, and I

[Blind-Computing] notebook problems

hi.
using a toshiba a300 satellite psag4a 20300m.

hard disk, 2.1 ghz processor.
ati radium video card, real tech audio manager
now in the system tray.
i plug my calbe into the power socket.
and had to take out the battery yesterday.
yesterday and the day before about 7 pm.
i heard the battery was shutting down and then got to 0.
and it shut off.
well it would not power on for 5 to 10 minutes.
then decided to power up.
now i check the battery metre using windows b.
and arrow up to the battery.
was saying 99% plugged in charging.
now it is saying 1:39 hr left 91%.
so wondering.
is it possible that my battery is on the way out.
any one had any problems before.
so what to do?
purchase a new battery.
could it be the power pack, that could be a bit dodgy.
well stupidly trod on the power cable, ripped out the power connector.
and the shaft.
but got a friend to repair that and solder it and put tape around it.
it has been working fine for about a month.
until i started getting this problem this week.
what to do?
