Re: [Blind-Computing] [blind-computing] my request for theyahoo captcha code veryfcation help

2011-02-20 Thread Jacob Kruger
OK, not really relevant to captcha, but recently got hold of this instant
messenger client software, that's apparently somewhat usable, and just
checked this morning, and it can handle yahoo messenger accounts:

http://instantbird.com/

Honestly, though, I haven't done more with it than install it, and add my
MSN account, as well as apparently enabling facebook chat within it.

Stay well

Without sighted help, your only other option to solve the captcha would
be

to use Firefox with the Webvisum add-on. Webvisum uses a proprietary
process to solve image captchas . When you encounter a page that
contains
such a captcha like the one on the Yahoo page you are having trouble
with,

you simply press Alt-Control-numrow 6, and the captcha is submitted to
Webvisum, which decodes it and returns the result in the clipboard,
ready
to paste into the appropriate edit field. But it only works with
Firefox

and not IE, so if you don't already have Firefox, you would need to
download and install it first before you can install Webvisum. To learn
more about Webvisum, visit:

http://www.webvisum.com/

[Blind-Computing] windows media player help

2011-02-20 Thread Marvin Hunkin
hi.
did a super anti spyware and a malware bytes scan, and did the full scan.a
nd it found the trogen.agent a and removed it.
i cannot play any audio files in windows media palyer 11.
using windows vista home premium.
and the abc has updated their live streams.
and do not like the flash stream, so got the windows media stream.
now, rebooted my laptop, which is a toshiba, and also downloaded the windows
vista audio codex.
and now cannot play any .asx files.a
nd did do a system default to factory, which wiped out everything and got a
external hard disk, so had everything backed up.a
nd took me another three days to reinstall everything, because had a nasty
virus infection.
long story.
so, will paste the eerror messages i get.a
nd the first file is Local_Hobart.asx and heres the error message.
tried to use the alt control l for the libary and created a libary playlist and
searched for all my files.b
ut cannot seem to get tot hose check boxes using jaws 12.
so here's the first message.

Windows Media Player cannot play any items in the playlist. To find information
about the problem, click the Now Playing tab, and then click the icon next to
each file in the List pane.

and now tried to play network2.asx, for the world cup cricket, and when i try
to play this.
here's the error message i get.
Windows Media Player cannot play, burn, rip, or sync the file because a
required audio codec is not installed on your computer.

You will just have to set up a sign in ID if that is what it means. It
usually works better if you use a hotmail address but any email address
should work.

Hello Mark and all. Mark you will want to downgrade to an earlier
version
of
wlm. Say version 14. Something. I can get it to you if you need
it.After
installing it just exit it from the system ttray. Then go to my
computer

local c drive program files and into windows live. Find msnmgr.exe and
go
into properties for it. Control tab and check run as and in the drop
box

menu tell it as win 2000. This will disable the upgrading and it works
better. Would be better if you at least had jaws 10 but it may work.
You

may
even have to go earlier than the one I said.

Hi,

I regularly use "Live messenger", Im system, using Jaws 9. I have
found

with the most I have found it fiddly to use at times. More recent
versions
of "Live messenger", I have found that I have to use the Jaws cursor to
read

incoming messages where in earlier versions of "Messenger", Jaws read
them
as they came in.

I have also found that can't maximise the screen where I could do so
with
earlier versions of "Messenger", so after a couple of incoming messages
can't read any more then to or 3 incoming messages before they
disappear,
so can easily miss a posting. so if anyone has an easy resolution to
that
problem would be grateful for the answer

has been a while and my vista laptop um well I lost it's charger. It would
be listed as windows live though. You may have to get it.

Hello Mark and all. Mark you will want to downgrade to an earlier version
of
wlm. Say version 14. Something. I can get it to you if you need it.After
installing it just exit it from the system ttray. Then go to my computer
local c drive program files and into windows live. Find msnmgr.exe and go
into properties for it. Control tab and check run as and in the drop box
menu tell it as win 2000. This will disable the upgrading and it works
better. Would be better if you at least had jaws 10 but it may work. You
may
even have to go earlier than the one I said.

Hi,

I regularly use "Live messenger", Im system, using Jaws 9. I have found
with the most I have found it fiddly to use at times. More recent
versions
of "Live messenger", I have found that I have to use the Jaws cursor to
read

incoming messages where in earlier versions of "Messenger", Jaws read
them

as they came in.

I have also found that can't maximise the screen where I could do so with
earlier versions of "Messenger", so after a couple of incoming messages
can't read any more then to or 3 incoming messages before they
disappear,
so can easily miss a posting. so if anyone has an easy resolution to
that

Trust me on that. It will only get even worse if you upgrade! In Windows
Live Mail, you don't even see the contact list like in Windows Mail unless
you jump through a few hoops. If you are in your Windows Mail, try alt and

Re: [Blind-Computing] question about MSN messenger

2011-02-20 Thread Mark Mansworth

Hi,

I regularly use "Live messenger", Im system, using Jaws 9. I have found
with the most I have found it fiddly to use at times. More recent versions
of "Live messenger", I have found that I have to use the Jaws cursor to read
incoming messages where in earlier versions of "Messenger", Jaws read them
as they came in.

I have also found that can't maximise the screen where I could do so with
earlier versions of "Messenger", so after a couple of incoming messages
can't read any more then to or 3 incoming messages before they disappear,
so can easily miss a posting. so if anyone has an easy resolution to that
problem would be grateful for the answer

Re: [Blind-Computing] question about Windows live Mail and Messenger

2011-02-20 Thread NCBootman
Trust me on that. It will only get even worse if you upgrade! In Windows
Live Mail, you don't even see the contact list like in Windows Mail unless
you jump through a few hoops. If you are in your Windows Mail, try alt and t
for tools and go down to windows Contacts. Or, use control shift c all
together. If this doesn't work, check with a sighted person and see if you
have the option to repair the program in your Control Panel add/remove
programs or whatever they call it. If you do, repair it!

Re: [Blind-Computing] Screen Resolution

2011-02-20 Thread Brad Dunse
Rick,

Its set at 32 bit highest. I'll check on the display adapter issue. I don't
believe I'm having an issue with Jaws not speaking correctly at this
resolution setting, unless its not reading something it ought and I just
don't know, but its been like this for years. I was curious why the higher
resolution stops Jaws from talking. Maybe I ought set it as such, reboot and
have a set of eyeballs at the ready to return it back if needed 'smile'.
Honestly I'll be working on a new computer within the next six months so
this old XP machine will likely be history in the relative near future and
an eventual moot point.

Thanks.

Hi Brad,
In some cases, the display adapter can be a problem with Jaws, but there is
no way I could say for sure.
You can go to Freedom Scientific's website, and look at there service
bulletins
concerning display, and see if your type of display adapter is mentioned.
The screen resolution you are using almost sounds like you are running in
compatibility mode for Win98.
Are your colors set to 256, or highest 32-bit?

Re: [Blind-Computing] Screen Resolution

2011-02-20 Thread Rick Justice

Hi Doug,
The display settings I gave were recommended for Jaws and Windows XP,
and I haven't seen any recommendations for Windows 7.
Keep in Mind, that results may vary from machine to machine with different
display hardware,

but I am currently using the same settings on my Win7 machine.

Someone changed the screen resolution on my computer today. Does this
need to be set on a certain number to make JAWS work properly? If so,
where do I change it, and what does it need to be set on?
I am using Windows XP and JAWS 11.

Thanks,

2011-02-20 Thread Don Marang
I do not think the JAWS directories are that large, relatively speaking.
However, instead of attempting to type in the exception, let the program do
it for you. In the settings page, Tab past the exclusion list to the
"Browse..." button and press Space. It should let you browse through the
file system tree. There are checkboxes in front of each item. I am not
sure what this is because each is checked by default. I thought unchecking
the box would add it as an exception. It would not let me uncheck any
boxes. Perhaps that is because it was currently performing a full scan?
Just pressing Enter on a directory (folder) or file will place that entry in
the exceptions edit box. Now Tab to the Add button and activate it.

You can type in the entries manually, but you must be exact and follow the
same capitalization and spaces.

In MSSE, if you go to the Home tab and tab over to Settings, you will find
a list. In this list there are a couple of items dealing with exclusions.
I've heard that JAWS directory which is quite large could be excluded,
thus speeding up the scan time. What I'm not sure of is exactly what to
type in this field to have JAWS directory not scanned. If anyone has done
this, I would appreciate learning exactly what they typed here.

Thanks.

Mine is set at 800 by 600. However in the past when I've tried changing it,
Jaws won't speak at all. Would this have anything to do with any particular
video adapter/driver? All the rest of the usual settings like Windows
Classic and etc. are set fine.

2011-02-20 Thread steveboodram071
Hi gang;
could someone please offer some suggestion as to why I am having this problem
with printing a document?
Both the power and USB cables are connected and I get the add device sound each
time I power up the printer. The printer prints its test page even though I
can't remember telling it to do so. Yet I can't seem to print a document in
Word. I am using Office 2007 if that should matter.
I want to believe that the power cord is not faulty since the printer gets
electricity but is it a problem with the USB cable not feeding data to the
unit? Have I made some configuration accidentally that prevents this from
happening?
Your help with this problem would me greatly appreciated and greeted with the
strongest of gratitude since I am way behind in presenting my monthly report at
work in addition to wanting to print some other important documents for
submission to a seminar.
Eagerly awaiting your responses.
Thanks in advance of your generous offerings.

from the drivers.

does anyone know how I can record wav out? or what the sound card hears.

I have never seen this behavior either. Perhaps it is scanning. Normally
this is not noticeable. I think it could slow down considerably if it is
detecting dangerous files. Within MSE, Tab to the Home Tab Control and use
the Right Arrow to the History page. Tab once to the radio buttons and
arrow up to all detected. Tab one more time to the list of detected harmful
items it has found. It might quietly been quarantining half of your hard
drive!
