Re: [Blind-Computing] How to get US eng ESpeak voice for computer andspoonbill games plese
In the language codes you enter during install, the code for US english is en-us, but pretty sure it's one of the default ones there. I think the spoonville games just use your computer's default voice - which you generally set in the control panel, speech dialogue on windows XP, but which is a bit more difficult to set on windows7 FWIW. Re: [Blind-Computing] Question accessing ExternalHD
Michael, I think I know what's tgoing on. Most external hard drives have built in software which comes up immediately when you access the drive. It could be something as simple as a list of options or a password portal where you have to enter a certain string of characters to be allowed into the inner sanctum so to speak. You can select a simple program like Notepad or Wordpad and allow the program to make that kind of association. The worst that could happen would be that the displayed data couldn't be read. I believe, although I can't think how right now, that you can go into the Applications menu and reassociate certain files to be read by another program. I had to do that with some programs that were coming up in Microsoft Word Viewer instead of in Word itself. Re: [Blind-Computing] system access
For the Internet situation: First open Internet Explorer. Then go to the address bar or hit control plus o and type in the desired web site for your home page. Next hit alt plus t for the tools menu and arrow down to options. Hit enter once you land on this option. Now in this dialogue box tab to use current button and hit the space bar. Once you do this tab to OK and hit enter. Now close Internet Explorer and reopen it. Your home page should be the page you set. I hope this helps. Re: [Blind-Computing] accessing a windows 7 system over a network
Is it asking if you to enter a password for the Home network? Microsoft thinks they have a trademark or copyright on the term Home Network. It is a feature that allows you to easily share files in a library to be shared across your network. Any folder in any location, internal, external, or remote can be added to a library folder, such as Music. It only works between Windows 7 computers connected through your home router. If you only have one Windows 7 computer, just find the Home Network Control Panel and disable this feature. Otherwise, in the Control Panel, set a new password on the first computer, then join the Home Network, again through this Control Panel, using the same password. There is no username. Re: [Blind-Computing] Trouble opening C drive
Hi, I had the same problem years ago. My tech guy told me my hardrive was faling and replaced it. I later learned there is a fix at www.kellys-korner.com. If that is not the correct address, you can probably locate it via Inthane's grab bag site or do a google search. I must note, I had the same problem on any drive or folder I tried to open. You might also want to check under menu options to see if you have search checked, but I'm not sure about that one.
