Re: [Blind-Computing] Outlook Express Tool bar partially disappeared

2011-03-21 Thread Jacob Kruger
Make sure window is maximised - sounds to me like it has somehow sort of
relocated itsself a bit off screen so that only top left corner is appearing
on screen, and this is somehow blocking your screen readers
interpret\ation/rendition of things like menu systems, formatting (unread
messages appear as bold) etc. etc.

Just a guess/thought, but make sure - Alt + space bar, followed by X.

Stay well

Brad, take my word for it, it isn't anywhere near as good as they'd like to
think it is.
Oh, don't get me wrong. It's a great program but it's difficult to use and
because of that, it can be frustrating.
I'll bet there's someone on this list who can make it jump through hoops but
I have tried at work and we've finally decided to shelve the idea for the
time being.
I suppose it's what you need from a program that makes the difference,
though.
The great thing about that company is that they've always tried to improve
their product. In another couple of years, it will probably be everything
we want it to be. The thing is, Dragon naturally Speaking is not written
with a blind user in mind. That makes it a bit tough to navigate.

Hi Dan;

With IE, if I typed, www.blahblah.com, & pressed enter, IE would take me to
the website. When I do the same thing with Firefox, nothing happens unless
I put the, http://, in front, then press enter. Thank you very much for
the, control + Enter, keystroke. It's been so long since I've used it, I
completely forgot about it. Thanks again, take care.

  Mike,

Just like in Internet Explorer, you can just type the body of the URL and
hit control-enter and it will put the http://www and the dot com in for
you. So, to go to the jaws-users web site, just type jaws-users and hit
  control-enter

[Blind-Computing] DVD disks and Image For Windows

2011-03-21 Thread NLG
After listening to the audio tutorials at jaws-users.com/audio/ on the program
"Image For Windows" produced by Terabyte unlimited, I decided to purchase the
program.

My question is; what are the capacitys of the different DVD disks and which
should I purchase for burning the image file on to?

My computer is a Dell Optiplex 760 with a TSSTCORP dvd+rw TS-H653G

Thanks in advance :)

  I'll probably wait a while.

After you get FF, the first thing you should do is get webvisum, then you

I heard that Live Sync was the new combination of the Live Mesh storage

Hi Cornell and Kinstan,

Problem solved. I had my wife look at the monitor and I came to the
conclusion that the window live movie maker and photo gallery needed
to be checked and remove before it can remove the window live essential 2011.

However, window live sync still remains and I don't know the function
of this program and how important it is to window7, so I left it alone.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

How do I find out that window live essential 2011 is no longer on my
computer? I am using window7 64 bits home premium.

I went into programs and features and after pressing the application
key, I press enter to uncatalog it. I then press enter on the remove button.

Nothing appears to happen. All I get is the cancel button and after
waiting for a considerable amount of time, I was forced to cancel.

I am assuming that the window live essential 2011 was uncataloged and
has been removed, but it still shows up in programs and features.

How do I remove it completely from programs and features? Also, can I
remove window live sync?

any help will greatly be appreciated. Thanks.

Lennie

dragon naturally speaking premium can open some programs via voice command

Re: [Blind-Computing] new to blind computing and searching

2011-03-21 Thread Don Marang
Many of the problems around this technology is the complexity of the
vocabulary desired. The less commands you want to recognize, the better
the accuracy. From a practical standpoint I always had problems with
Dragon while taking dictation or recognizing commands and controlling
the computer because of family interruptions or background noise. It
can give you strange results and take longer due to undoing and
editing! It was kind of cool, but very frustrating!

Recently, several mainstream devices have come closer to your ideals.
There is the Ford in car electronics which uses voice control of the
audio, temperature read email from your bluetooth phone, or send a text
message through your phone, and so on for a hands free experience. It
sounds pretty imprressive! It almost makes me want to drive. It is
even in their low end Focus cars. Smart phones are surprisingly getting
pretty good at this as well I hear. Google has many projects that allow
voice input and recognition for search and translating voice mails to
text emails on Android phones. Most of the heavy processing in these
cases is performed on their servers.
