[Blind-Computing] Excel 2003, sort menu

2012-02-07 Thread Cliff Smales
I'm looking for advice and help from someone who really knows his or her way
around the 2003 Excel "sort" menu.

I'm using this menu, more and more, with the statistical work I do for my two
bowling leagues and my basketball team.

I know that it should offer me such choices as, "sort, largest to smallest".
However, I can't get it to do that.

I'd appreciate any information anyone could supply. I'm sure that it's a
matter of not knowing how to thoroughly navigate that menu.

Can someone, out there, please help me?

[Blind-Computing] Question about all in 1 laser printers

2012-02-07 Thread Lennie

Hi,

I currently have 2 printers, a HP 1200 laser printer which is still
working fine and a Canon all in one MP780 printer of which the print
heads are bad.

Unfortunately Canon USA told me that print head for this particular
model is no longer available.

The only use I have for this printer is to scan documents and send
fax. I should be able to receive a fax, but I won't be able to print it.

So, I am thinking about purchasing a new all in one printer that
scans, prints, copy and send/receive fax.

Two problems. Is such an animal available in laser color printer or
am I am going to have to stay with ink jet printers. Which laser and
ink jet printers do most people recommend and which ones to stay away
from as far as accessibility?

Secondly, I am currently using OmniPage 15 for all my scanning. Does
anyone know if this scanning software will work with the latest scanners?

Any information, advice and directions will most graciously be
appreciated. Thanks. Take care.

The problem with many newer all-in-one printers is that they use an LCD
display screen for option selection that is not accessible. And many
printers don't even have a toggle power switch anymore, just a button with
an LED indicator so it can be difficult to determine whether the printer is
on or off without listening for internal noise . So shop carefully.

[Blind-Computing] Help with my wife's Canon F30

2012-02-07 Thread Lennie

Hi,

My wife is using my old Canon F30 printer, scanner and copier with is
working fine. She does have an annoying problem which I cannot figure
out and I need some expert advice.

She is using the Canon with her XP laptop computer. When She starts
her laptop from a cold start, she always get the annoying message
that window cannot find the Canon, Messages like that the printer is
not turned on or not connected. Granted, She only turns on the
printer when she wants to print something and 99% of the time she
don't know if she is printing anything when she turns on the laptop.

Of course, if she turns on the printer before she turns the laptop
on, the message does not appear.

If the printer is not on when the laptop is on and she decides to
print a document, she then turns on the Canon, but she cannot print
anything. Apparently, the printer must be off-line as indicated by
the message when she turned on the laptop. I tried to help her to put
it on-line. but we cannot get it to work. At this point, she has to
restart the laptop in order to print anything.

Does anyone know if there any settings with Canon printers that can
bypass the initial message and be able to print anything when turning
on the Canon after the laptop is turned on?

As I mentioned, it was my old Canon printer on my desktop XP computer
and none of these annoying problems did occur.

Any ideas or information to get around this problem? Any advice will
be gratefully appreciated. Take care.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Excel 2003, sort menu

2012-02-07 Thread Lennie

Hi Cliff,

When you need to sort largest to smaller, do the following:

1. Press Alt+d and press enter for sort
2. If you have no header row, Shift+tab several times to select no header row
3. Tab back to sort by column and arrow down for the column to be
sorted. If your choice is column A, you might already be there
4. Tab once and arrow down once to select descending. This will sort
largest first.
5. If additional sorts are needed, tab once for the second column and
again for the third column (Maximum sorts allows for three columns)

6. Press enter to sort. The default should be OK.

I hope this works for you. Let me know if you have any problems since
the above information is from memory.

Take care.

Thanks William. Though such a program would also

handy. I haven't found anything out there the

In other words to stop text from

2012-02-07 Thread Stephan, William S NWK
I know .css can be used on the web, but the guy who suggested it seemed to
think it could be used in other applications too. Again though, I have no
experience with it one way or the other.

Thanks William. Though such a program would also remove desired carriage
returns, it sure would be handy. I haven't found anything out there the last
time I searched, but if I find anything I'll post it here. CSS would be a web
solution but not any other situations I guess.

[Blind-Computing] Possible solution/Re: Removing hard carriage returns in MS Word 2010

2012-02-07 Thread Brad Dunsé

William,

I successfully remove carriage returns similar to
the link here, however, the double carriage
return only worked on the very end of the
document. Doing this does remove it but requires
you go back and put in the returns you actually
want in there. This might be helpful in some
cases, but this is about the closest we might
get. Hope it works for you. I'll try it on some
other documents. The one I tried was pasted from
a PDF. Perhaps better luck with web pastes.
