Re: [Blind-Computing] Reading Tables in MS Word with Jaws
Mark, Once you enter the table, you should be in the first box. That would be Row 1, Column 1. The first row is likely a number of headers. You should be able to use the arrow keys to travel down the column or across the row; stopping in each element. Also, using the TAB key will move you to each succeeding element. For example, if there are 6 columns and 8 rows, continually using the TAB from Row 1, Column 1 should take you to Column 2, Column 3, Column 4, Column 5 and Column 6; using the TAB in Row 1, Column 6 should take you to Row 2, Column 1, etc. Using SHIFTTAB will cause to navigate up the table. Once you find yourself in the middle of the table, using the right and left arrow keys will move you along the row; using the up and down arrows keys will move you up and down the column. Re: [Blind-Computing] Reading Tables in MS Word with Jaws
Personally, I find using tables in word to be awkward and tedious. My solution is to go to excel and open a new worksheet; go to the table in word select all and copy (Control a, Control c); then paste this into to the excel workbook you have opened. The same table you had in word will appear in the columns in your excel worksheet. I find an excel table far easier to use then a word table. -Original Message- From: Blind-Computing [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of mark Sent: Tuesday, October 02, 2012 9:27 PM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: [Blind-Computing] Reading Tables in MS Word with Jaws Hi I recently received an important MS word document that has a table with data I need to enter. [Blind-Computing] Online math and JAWS
Hello, I have a junior high and a high school student whose teachers are using a program called IXL for supplementary math exercises in class. They both have JAWS 12 on their laptops. JAWS will read some things, but they need a sighted peer to read the graphics. Does anyone know an online math program that works better with JAWS? Re: [Blind-Computing] Reading Tables in MS Word with Jaws
Hello, Firstly, I am not a JAWS user, but since I am with low vision, I use the keyboard alot. So say you go to cell A1 (row 1 column 1) and want to move to the next cell, you press the TAB key. When you reach the last cell (last row last column) and you press a TAB key, Word will open a blank row for you bellow the last one, with the number of cells equal to those of the last one. The left and down arrow key are not of an use because it doesn't move a cell to the left or down, just a character left and a line down. If you have trouble using the TAB key due to a key confilict you may use as well (alt down=tab and alt up=shift tab) for the tables. [Blind-Computing] Tables in MS Word
I was a little surprised to see so many issues with using tables in MS Word. Use Insert plus V to make sure table reading is on. You can even identify the reading of cell headings or row headings as you move up and down or across the table's cells. Just use control plus alt and up or down arrows to move up or down a column; use control plus alt and left and right arrows to move from cell to cell within a table; at the last cell, use tab to move to the next row; edit each individual cell as though it were a separate paragraph; and life with tables is beautiful -- at least with JAWS 12. Of course, as with many functions, things don't quite work as well with JAWS 13. Let's hope FS went back to JAWS 12 to build JAWS 14. I. I have three programs that I know of that are starting automatically when I boot my Windows 7 machine. Where do I go to stop them from doing this since I seldom use either of them and my computer has become slow? I looked in Startup to find them but deleting apparently deletes only the shortcut! Hello, Could someone tell me how to place a check mark using the JAWS and invisible cursor? Thank you. For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
Re: [Blind-Computing] JAWS and invisible cursor?
You can not click on objects withh the Invisible cursor! Use the JAWS cursor instead. The Invisible cursor works just like the JAWS cursor, except the Invisible cursor does not drag the mouse with it, like the JAWS cursor. In case you have not figured it out, the JAWS cursor = the mouse pointer! The Invisible cursor has the advantage of being able to look around the objects in the window, which may change shape or color when the mouse just hovers over them. *Don Marang* Vinux Package Development Coordinator - vinuxproject.org http://www.vinuxproject.org/ On 10/3/2012 7:17 PM, Bill wrote: Hello, Could someone tell me how to place a check mark using the JAWS and invisible cursor?
