[Blind-Computing] Laptop Battery vrs AC Power
I have noticed of late, that while in my system's tray, one item states I have 80% battery power and today it shows a message saying, I need to change my battery. I have the laptop plugged in at all times, so shouldn't it state it's on AC power rather than battery? Is there a button on the laptop that could have been flipped to battery vrs AC, or is this a setting within the computer I need to check? This laptop is an ASUS running windows 7 Home. Any help appreciated.. Trish For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
[Blind-Computing] Changing W7 ultimate to W8 home edition
I am now using W7 ultimate edition and would like to know if W8 home edition can be done as an upgrade without changing anything else on the computer except jaws. I am paying Freedomscientific for jaws home edition SMA but cannot upgrade since W7 is the ultimate edition. I have two other computers with W7 home edition and jaws home edition and I can upgrade these two computers with my Freedomscientific SMA. Hope I made sense of this. FRED C. h, ok, had five XP computers (still have 2 of them) and never had any trouble with any of this, but remembered the battery thing from a ways back time wise, well sort of short I guess that was when I was on millennium... anyway, thanks! inthane -Original Message- From: Blind-Computing [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of MWB Sent: Sunday, October 28, 2012 4:51 AM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Time of Day, Running Fast Hi Inthane, Thank you very much for your input. If synchronization is enabled, your computer clock is synchronized with an Internet time server once a week. However, if you don't have a continuous Internet connection through a cable modem or DSL modem, the automatic synchronization might not always occur. In that case, you can force an immediate synchronization by clicking the Update Now button on the Internet Time tab in Date and Time in Control Panel. This tab is only available if your computer is not a member of a domain. If time synchronization fails When you click the Update Now button, your clock should be synchronized immediately. If it fails, it may be for one of the following reasons: . You are not connected to the Internet. Establish an Internet connection before you attempt to synchronize your clock. . Your personal or network firewall prevents clock synchronization. Most corporate and organizational firewalls will block time synchronization, as do some personal firewalls. Home users should read your firewall documentation for information about unblocking network time protocol (NTP). You should be able to synchronize your clock if you switch to the Microsoft Internet Connection Firewall. . The Internet time server is too busy or not available for some reason. If this is the case, try synchronizing your clock later, or update it manually by double-clicking the clock on the taskbar You can also try using a different time server. . The date set on your computer is inaccurate. Internet time servers will not synchronize your clock if the date is incorrect. Ensure that the date is set correctly in Date and Time Properties in Control Panel. Note . Re: [Blind-Computing] Last Month Expanded in Outlook 2010
In Outlook 2010 quickly find a message by searching on an exact word or phrase from the header or body of the message you are searching for by following these steps: 1. Shift+Tab twice to move into an edit box. 2. Type or paste in an exact word or phrase that you know is in the message you are looking for. Capitalization does not matter, but everything else does. Sometimes less is better. 3. Tab or Shift+Tab until you are in the list view of the search results. The number of times you have to press either of these commands will depend on how you have your Outlook view set up. 4. Use up and down arrow to move through the list, Enter to open a message, ESC to close an open message, and ESC when in the list view to close the search. Comments: This searching technique also works in Notes and Calendar. There is a way to tell it to search in all folders, but I'm yet to figure this out. I'm thinking that there must be a way to search on a date, but again, I have not figured this out. Another way to find all messages from a sender if you can find one message in that folder from that sender is: 1. When in the list view for the folder in which you want to search, move to the message, but do not open it. 2. Press the applications key (or Shift+F10) to bring up a context menu. 3. Arrow to Find Related and press Enter or press F to open a submenu. 4. There are 2 choices on the submenu, arrow to "From Sender" and press Enter, or press S. 5. The list of matching items is presented. Use up and down arrow to navigate the list, Enter to open and read a message, ESC to close an open message and ESC when at the list to close the search results. -Original Message- From: Blind-Computing [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of david Sent: Tuesday, October 30, 2012 6:38 AM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: Re: [Blind-Computing] Last Month Expanded in Outlook 2010 Hello there; This may help some using outlook 2007&2010; Using Find In MSOutlook2007&2010 Using Jaws Locating All Messages By One Sender: This will work in any mailbox E.g., in-box, sent-box etc. 1.
