Do you have firefox? If yes, instal the add on for it called webvism, it is a great tool for the blind to help solve captcha's on websites. It takes 3 to 5 seconds to give you the result. Is there anyone who can understand the Google audio CAPTCHA? Honestly, we spent forever trying to hear it one afternoon, never got it write and no one seemed to be answering the phone the one time we tried. I don't play phone tag well. Partial hearing loss in the ear most of you use on the phone, can't seem to hold it on the opposite shoulder while I am typing so calling is my absolute last resort and usually I just forget what it was I may have been trying to do rather than call. I hate CAPTCHA! Google's in my opinion is one of the worst I have heard and my husband said he can't read it either. I would not use Google at all any longer, if I were not required to do so at work. Here you go with some quick instructions on creating a gmail account NOTE: the same username and password can be used on all your google accounts, i.e. youtube, google maps, google documents etc. 1. Go to www.gmail.com 2. Click enter on the link: Create an account 3. On the next page fill out the form with appropriate details requested Edit boxes by typing the fields, Check boxes by space barring on them, list boxes and combo boxes, you know how they need to be done 4. There will be a challentge in filling the username field, if the username already exists it will tell you that it does, and give you combinations of usernames you may want to choose - use the up and down arrow keys to toggle the options, enter to select, if they are not what you wish you need to type in a new one again in the text box, check again if the username is not already taken. 5. Use the audio captcha, or request a phone verification 6. Check the checkboxes and hit enter on the next button Sorry did not get further from this as I did not want to create another gmail account. Re: [Blind-Computing] Imbedding & Extracting Sounds In Outlook Express, Steps
Hi Bob, Below is a link to extract imbedded sounds & below that are the steps to imbed a background sound using Outlook Express: Extracting An Imbedded Sound From A Message: http://www.jaws-users.com/text/email/OutlookExpress/ExtractingAnImbeddedSound.html Adding a music file as a background in an EMail message. This feature is only available in Outlook Express, that I am aware of anyways. 1. Open a new message. Put in the recipients address, subject and any message you may want to include. 2. Go to the format menu, alt o. 3. Arrow down to the background menu, or type the letter B. The Rich Text (HTML) box must also be checked in this menu. 4. Arrow down to sound, or type the letter s. 5. Tab to browse and press spacebar, & tab to Look In to arrow up or down to find your folder where your sound file is kept. 6. Once you find the file you want to add, press enter on the file name. 7. Tab to Play Sound, & make sure this box is checked. Then tab to, repeat settings. You can choose to just play the sound 1 time, or play the sound continuously by pressing your up arrow to choose how many times you want the sound file to play when the person opens the email 8. Tab to OK and press enter. 9. Send the message as you normally would. Take care. Re: [Blind-Computing] IE9,
Hi Rose, You are absolutely correct, it is no laughing matter! CCleaner is very difficult to navigate when checking or unchecking your options in the tree view of what you would like to have cleaned or not cleaned. I spent several hours 1 day trying to label the graphics to see if that would help &, it did not! I have contacted CCleaner many times to complain about its lack of accessibility for people using Jaws. I know you can navigate the tree view options using the Jaws cursor but, that can be very tedious & time consuming. It is an excellent program & I use it regularly but, the initial set-up can be frustrating but, once it is set-up the way you want it, you never have to do it again even after updating, at least I haven't had to make any changes after an update. But I am sure I have always thought of Christmas time, when it has come round -- apart from the veneration due to its sacred name and origin, if anything belonging to it can be apart from that -- as a good time; a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time: the only time I know of, in the long calendar of the year, when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up hearts freely, and to think of people below them as if they really were fellow-passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys. And therefore, uncle, though it has never put a scrap of gold or silver in my pocket, I believe that it has done me good, and will do me good; and I say, God bless it!'" - "A Christmas Carol," 1843, Charles Dickens For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [Blind-Computing] Creating a Gmail Account (Was this discussed before?)
They play at accessibility but don't take it seriously, just look at all the clutter on the home page. Re: [Blind-Computing] IE9,
Yes, and if you don't know how to use Cleaner, it will wipe everything passwords, cookies etc, did that once, never took the time or had a well enough done explanation to keep it from happening again, not going looking all over the computer for files I don't want it to touch, and removed it before I did that sort of damage again, it was especially bad when I lost my bank info and had to wait for weeks for my husband to get home from the hospital so I could e-mail the code to him he read it to me and me to get it in the proper place. Needs to be written in plain English, one needs to be extremely careful using it, I won't ever let it do my tem files again or my cookies. You all can laugh, but making it do as I needed was not straightforward, may never be. Re: [Blind-Computing] IE9,
Hello, First clear all the temporary files on your computer, they simply hog memory. To do this launch the run dialog box: Windows Key + R In the dialog box type %temp%, hit the enter key, this should open the temporary files folder Select all the files in this folder by pressing Control + A Then press Shift + Delete to delete all the files Click yes to all if prompted Do you want to delete multiple files NOTE: Some temporary files may not be deleted as they may be in use, ignore them For Internet Explorer loading slow, the temporary files and cache on the browser might be causing this. Follow the instructions on the below site and restart your browser: http://kb.wisc.edu/page.php?id=15141 Hope this helps!
