Re: [Blind-Computing] Network Attached Storage RAID.
Hi, Are you looking for NAS or an external USB 3 based storage device? I have good experiences with Western Digital units - both NAS and external hard drives. Hth, PL -Original Message- From: Blind-Computing [mailto:blind-computing-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of Shadow Systems Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2013 12:50 PM To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Subject: [Blind-Computing] Network Attached Storage RAID. Hello Everyone. I am currently researching my options for purchasing a Network Attached Storage (NAS) box, and have some questions involving them. My Primary question is, are there any Manufacturers, Brands, Models, etc that I should stay away from? That I should place in higher contention than the others? Why, and please cite all relevant sources so that I can continue researching along those provided avenues. A secondary, but not unrelated question, is which Redundant Array of Independant Disks (RAID) controllers (again, Manufacturer, Brand, Models, etc) should I avoid or gravitate towards? And again, please cite all relevant sources so I can continue researching. Are there any Blind Accessable Software RAID programs out there? If so, which ones work which ones deserve to be stomped into a wood chipper turned into mulch with extreme prejudice? I'm going to be using the NAS with my laptop, so installing a physical RAID controller card isn't an option, and I'd prefer if the box had either a USB or E-SATA connection to the laptop. (WiFi doesn't like me tends to scramble itself due to my magnetic personality. *Chortle*) Another reason to prefer the physical connection is that I'm not fond of having to File Transfer Protocol (FTP) my own files across my sluggish network to my NAS box. It would take too long to FTP multiple TeraBytes of data to the NAS, when I could just plug in the USB or E-SATA cable from the NAS to my laptop, and move them via Windows File Explorer like I would any other files. Since I'm connected via Cable Modem (no Wireless), the RJ45 jack of the laptop is already in use, so I can't connect it that way. Thank you for the help, and any assistance is appreciated. -ShadowSystems For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/ For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/

Re: [Blind-Computing] re-post of question about jaws 12
Besides, if you try to install incorrect version of JAWS for a given flavor of the operating system your installation would refuse the process so 64-bit of JAWS wouldn't go on 32-bit OS and vice versa. Hi, Unfortunately one would need some sighted assistance, I am afraid. With some sighted help, I tried using this tool once, but was not successful. hth Josh - Original Message - From: Steve Boodram steveboodram...@gmail.com To: blind-computing@jaws-users.com Date sent: Sat, 19 Jan 2013 13:45:25 -0400 Subject: [Blind-Computing] Locked out of Windows and can't get in,any helpers please? Hello friends, I urgently need your help please. as you all may be aware I posted previusly a problem concerning IE or any browser won't let me change my homepage from AVG security search. I was told that it probably had to do with some kind of settings in parental control and I went in there to see if I could figure out what to do. Whilst in there, I was prompted by Windows to set a password, less programs or persons could have acces and pose some kind of a security risk which I did and confirmed it in the box that followed. I created a really simple password which I am sure to remember and when I rebooted the machine I am locked out of Windows. I hear the startup sound but gets the prompt to enter my password and it never worked. So one problem lead me int another. Do you have any idea as to how I can reset this or would I have to do the dreaded reformat?
