Hello,

I had no idea there was a specific interface feature you could or were
supposed to use. I have Avast 7.0 and have to use Jaws to even get it to
read.

Jaws SMA’s. When you buy 1 SMA, how many Jaws upgrades does it cover?

Hi, This is what I got when Googling the error code. Try these steps, if
possible.

Windows Update Error 800B0100
If you receive the Windows Update error 800b0100, it means that a file
needed by Windows Update is not registered with Windows correctly. The
System Update Readiness Tool can correct some conditions that cause this
error. To use the tool, follow these steps:
1.
Go to the System Update Readiness Tool webpage. In the Information for
advanced users section, find the version of Windows and system type of
your computer, and then click the link to download the System Update
Readiness Tool. If you don't know which version of Windows you have, see
View your computer information.
2.
Run Windows Update again.
Note
Note
Typically, the scan takes 15 minutes or less, but it can take longer on
some computers. The Windows Update progress bar is not updated during
the scan, and progress seems to stop at 60% complete for some time. This
behavior is expected. The scan is still running and you should not
cancel the update.
If the problem persists after you take these steps, go to the Microsoft
Update Solution Center website to find more information about the error
code or to request support by e‑mail.
Error codes this applies to:
•
WindowsUpdate_800B0100
•
0x800B0100

Hi,

Hiding a Windows update in Windows 7 is quite easy.

1. Go to your start mennu, and look for Windows update.

2. If the update that you wish to hide, click on the link in Windows
update that says so many important updates are available. For
example, it would say 1 important update is available.

3. If there is more than 1, find the update you want. Go to your
context menu with Shift+F10 or the applications key if you have one.
4. Find where it says hide and hit enter. Press ok.

You should have the update hidden now. If there is only 1 update, all
you will have to do is go into your context menu and hit enter on the
hide option, then press the ok button.

Re: [Blind-Computing] hiding updates

2011-08-23 Thread Portia

PS. For those who dont like Google, you can try Yahoo's blind friendly

Google's web summary is great and also the headings/links are easily

10 results is selected beforehand.

Re: [Blind-Computing] online banking

2011-08-19 Thread Portia

Hi Yvonne,

I dont really find carrot browsing useful, so I never use it lol. Here
is the description from Windows help and support of carrot browsing.

Select text and move around a webpage with a keyboard

You can use keys on your keyboard---including Home, End, Page Up, Page
Down, the arrow keys, and Tab---to navigate through the buttons,
content, and text entry fields on most webpages. This feature is called
Caret Browsing.

It basically just puts a system curser so you can use those keys, but
again, whether thats useful depends on the end user.

Does the laptop connect normally in the morning and the afternoon? If so,
I'm wondering if there is a process running that is set to launch in the
'early evening' hours. Maybe an anti-virus scan is scheduled for that time
and hogging the processor. Just a wild guess.

Take care,

I hope a new author of the Thunderbird scripts can reappear since
Windows 7

It doesn't actually run well with Jaws. There are scripts, but they
are not

maintained anymore as I gather by contacting the author.
The threaded messages list is not supported by Jaws (as it should
be) and it
is the feature I use most of all; classifying the messages and
putting them
in a group based on their subjects, so you can just delete the
whole thread

if you don't want to read it.
If you find something as good as TB and more accessible, I'd be
happy to use

it, however.
Oh and also, Eudora is, in it's beta version, using the Thunderbird
engine.
So if Jaws, in it's future version, decides to maintain the scripts
for it,

you can use Eudora instead,.

Hi all,

Thunderbird works well with Jaws, at least for me. You will have to use
the Jaws cursor in some cases, and when you go to compose an email with
Thunderbird, you'll have to route the Jaws cursor to the pc cursor.
Sometimes you may have to activate the Jaws cursor before doing the
route Jaws to pc command. If you have any questions you would like to
ask me personally, feel free to email me personally off list.

hello all, I ran a registry clean with CCleaner, is it generally safe to
have it fix all the errors it finds or should I be really careful allowing
it to do all the suggested repairs. I have over 100 things listed as errors.
they include all of the following 12 error types:

missing DLL
unused file extensions
invalid default icon
active exe/com issues
open with application issue
missing type lib reference
application paths issue
installer reference issue
uninstaller reference issue
obsolete software key
old start menu key
missing mui reference

Thanks,
Kate
