Re: [Blind-Computing] free download manager

2011-12-10 Thread Anthony tom in studio
Thanks. Cause I just had a major dispute with IDM. I paid for registration
and the code won't work. So I just asked for my 24 bucks back. Further to
that, I saw somewhere on their site, something about having to purchacing it
again if the code is not working. Do they think there're money trees growing
somewhere?

[Blind-Computing] lost folders?

2011-12-04 Thread Anthony tom in studio
Hi list,

I seem to have had a virus on an external drive or somewhere in my system,
that basically created shortcuts on any removable media I will attach to the
computer. After scanning the system and getting rid of whatever virus there
was, the result was that the folders on the external drives can't be seen. I
know they're there because when I check the file properties I can see that
the drive is not empty.
Question. How can I restore the folder? I mean make them visible again? And
for future reference, what process did this virus use to achieve making the
drive appear to be empty?

Many thanks.

Anthony.

Hi
Well, I was running the test version and updated to the full version
when it came out. There were few issues. However, My brokers website
requires me to use the JAWS cursor to access certain features like
transferring money. In this case IE 9 simply did not allow JAWS to read the
area of the screen that had those Icons. So, for now I am stuck with IE 8. I
hope JAWS will address these issues so I can upgrade in the near future! I
can hardly wait. Smile.

Hello group,
I have read bits and pieces about Explorer 9 but I'm still not sure
whether it would or wouldn't be a good idea to load it. In fact, there have
been confusing and conflicting messages on the subject here on this list.
I'm reasonably sure that if I hate it, I can uninstall and go back to
Explorer 8 but before I go through all of that trouble, has anyone drawn a
detailed comparison of how each of these versions works with jaws?
for now, I'm going to chicken out and avoid loading it even though my
computer pesters me every time I start it up.
I have Windows 7 Professional, jaws 12 and I'm running a 64 bit system.
Any thoughtful input would be welcome.
Thanks everyone.

Hi
To revert back to IE 8, one needs to uninstall IE 9. As part of the
uninstallation process you will be asked if you want to go back to IE 8. The
trouble as I recall was that in order to uninstall IE 9 I had to find it in
the programs list in the control panel. It was one of the hidden updates.
 I hope this helps.

[Blind-Computing] can't install?.......!......!!

2009-05-11 Thread anthony tom in studio
Hi, greetings.

I've been for the last three hours, trying to install my legal copy of roxio
media creator 10. each time I would try, I get an error message that would
only tell me that setup has been interrupted! Nothing else! Its s
annoying! Anyone had any experiences like this? When I was installing the
software for my hp office jet j5500 all-in-one, I had a similar issue, but I
tried shutting off jaws for a while during the install process, and that did
the trick. No luck this time though?!!!

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated, whether or not it works.
Anything is worth a try at this time! This is expensive software!

Many thanks.

Did you set up the network with the XP network wizard?
Try running this again on the PC side and use the wizard again to save a
setup file on a USB removable pen drive.
Run this again moving your USB pen on to your laptop.
See if this works.
If this fails reverse the process from the Laptop side. I do not have Vista
but I assume that it has a network setup utility?

I know I had to run the setup wizard twice on my PC and once on the laptop
to finally get it all to work. It did not work properly after just one
running of the wizard on the PC side.
Just about exhausts my knowledge I am afraid. Hope you get there.

Hello listers,

I have this very annoying problem. I have sort to network my vista laptop
and xp desktop. Everything is fine when I access my laptop via the pc. But
when I try to do it the other way around, I get an error message saying that
I can't get into homesweethome, either the name is spelled wrong, or I don't
have permission so to do. I tried everything I know, and that's not too
much, but nothing seems to work. Please, how can I fix this problem?

Many thanks.

Re: [Blind-Computing] Anti Virus

2008-10-18 Thread anthony tom in studio
Hello al.
A friend of mine has a Toshiba laptop which runs like a snail. I just
noticed however, that he has two antivirus software installed and running.
They are MacAfee and Norton. How dangerous is that? And if we should have to
lose one, which should it be?
Many thanks.

Subject: [Blind-Computing] Anti Virus

Hi
I just upgraded to Norton Internet Security. I Found
that as long as I am willing to use the JAWS cursor and the JAWS Left mouse
click I do wonderful. I am happy to be back with Norton's. I tried AVG for
thirty days and it did good but to me Norton's is worth the little extra
work. The 2009 version is much easier to use than the 2008.

God bless,
Mark
