Re: [Blind-Computing] SUPERAntiSpyware Question

2009-01-05 Thread Gerald Levy

This is a classic scam that many unsuspecting computer users often fall for.
You may receive an email urging you to download AVG Security 2009 or
Super Anti Virus 2009 or some other such similar sounding name from the
link in the message. The message is usually signed by a Dave Matthews.
This is nothing but a scam that will install malware on your computer that
is difficult to remove. The real version of AVG is called AVG 8, not AVG
2009. If you ever receive suspicious email imploring you to download a
funny-sounding anti-virus or anti-spyware program , just delete it without
taking any further action. If you have any doubts about the authenticity of
the program touted in the message, share your suspicions with the rest of
this list. Otherwise, you may have a real headache on your hands.

Dear all,

What a surprise!
I tried to download AntiSpyware 2009. However, the AVAST anti virus
program has stopped it and I received the following warning message.

Indeed, I aborted the downloading process right away.
Here is below the message for your information: Hmmm,

avast! Warning
Malware Was Found!
There is no reason to worry, though. avast! has stopped the
malware before it could enter your computer. When you click on the
Abort connection button, the download of the dangerous file will
be canceled.

Hello,

I have just downloaded the free edition of SUPERAntiSpyware. I'm hoping
it

will remove things such as tracking cookies, but I'm wondering if it will
remove all cookies. I don't want it to remove cookies used by such sites
as

Amazon.com or Peapod.com. The reason I ask this is because I haven't run
any anti-spyware software for a long time since Adaware became unusable,
and

I have a huge number of tracking cookies listed.

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
