Re: [Blind-Computing] c cleaner

2012-12-15 Thread Mike B.
Hi Anna,

Personally, I don't know if there is really a, best time, to run CCleaner.
I always do it before the scheduled scan by MSSE. MSSE SuperAnti Spyware
or Malware Bytes are the only cleaning programs that I have run on a
schedule, CCleaner I run manually because it only takes a minute or 2 to run
it. I have MSSE scheduled to run a full scan on Sunday evenings so, I run
all my manual scans Sunday afternoon.
Take care.

Hi all,
you may think this is a dumb question but I am going to ask anyway.
the cc files that are made when you say yes to backing up the files when you
say yes to the dialogue that comes up when you choose fix issues ,
If I do not need them anymore can they be safely deleted?
what i mean is can I delete the oldercc files and just keep the recent ones?

Hi Anna,

Yes they can be deleted without any problems. It just a backup of your
registry so that if something that was removed from the registry messes up
the way the computer was working, you can restore the registry back to its
original state before cleaning it and therefore putting the registry / your
computer back to a correctly working state. Take care.

Hi Anna,

It all depends on how much crap is on your harddrive / how much cleaning it
has to do, how you have CCleaner settings configured, the size of your
harddrive, the speed of your computer. Mine will take quite awhile before
it even says 2%! So, I've gotten used to it , just wait until I hear Jaws
report 100%. If I have missed or misstated something, will someone please
jump in straighten my mistakes out or fill in what I've missed! Hope this
helps. Take care.

Because CCleaner is not an anti-malware program and thus does not use
database definitions,it does not need to be updated on a daily basis. It
needs to be updated periodically only when program updates become available.

. It is simply a
checkbox that can be checked or not checked, but by default it is checked.

Again, I recommend you manually do the scanning and scan in both the Windows
and the Applications pages of the program. In fact, I noticed under
applications there are such items as Windows Defender, regedit, Adobe
Reader, MSN Messenger, Sun Java, Office and others.

I might be wrong, but I think that if you perform the run function when
you first start the program that it only will clean for the page of the
program that is the active page. If one run cleans both the items in the
Windows page and the Applications page then of course an autorun should work
well.

Take care.

Hello,
Just found a new version of C Cleaner on the Beta News site. Question is,
is

it safe to run? Will I loose any important regestery keys if I ran it? I'm
so afraid this might happen when I run it and crap starts happening to my
WIN XP home machine. Now isn't the time for anything major to happen with
my

PC without any sighted help to bail me out of a jam. Thanks.

[Blind-Computing] C Cleaner Question

2009-03-16 Thread Patricia Dunbar
I downloaded and installed the c cleaner program from David's site and I
just ran it and was wondering how do I know when it's finished?
I didn't find any scripts for it for Jaws so guess none is available. I only
installed the first one in that list and should I also install the one below
it for no tool bar?

I'm not sure on a few of it's settings either...

should the delete the recycle bin be checked?

should the run automatically when starting my computer be checked?

I didn't find after tabbing through all the items possible to do any button
or such to remove errors it found. I did the clean button and I routed jaws
and read that it was completed at least. I noticed in the settings that a
box to close it after it's finished was left unchecked so was wondering if I
should check it?

I really had no issues with Jaws not reading me any of the buttons and the
settings.
I just would like to know if it did all it was suppose to do and that I'm
not sure of...

Thanks for any help on this matter.

Hi Patricia, I'd recommend checking the box to delete the recycle bin files.
As for the program starting when the computer boots, um that's a personal

ok and thanks.

One other question, if it empties the recycle bin is this associated with
window's recycle bin? I ask because, if I need to restore something and it's
all been removed then I am in trouble.
