Go to the Insert menu and arrow down a couple to "Worksheet". They'll
default to Sheet 1, Sheet 2, Sheet 3 or the like each time. You can rename
these. If you get your Jaws cursor on one of the sheets and right click it
you'll see helpful options there.

Using 2003, how do I accomplish this needed addition?

2009-10-20 Thread Patricia Dunbar

I also use Excel and office 2003 and I do it this way..

arrow to the column you want to enlarge

press control spacebar to select the entire column*or select spacebar for
entire row*

then press Alt O, arrow down to colomn and enter on it.

Then arrow down to auto fit and enter. Now that column is expanded.

Should you need to delete a column or row you can do it this way...

arrow to the column/row
Press Alt E, D, then arrow down to either row or column and press enter.

If you are using 2007 it may be a different matter. I do not know but you

In Excel, go to the format menu, scroll to cells and hit enter. Press
control and tab until you hear number tab. Then hit the tab key once. You
should be in a list which has "general" as the first entry. Scroll down to
date. Press tab; at that point you can type in the way you want a date
formatted in excel.

I'm taking a stab in the dark and assuming that your document has been
created with column titles , and possibly row titles. An example would be
peoples names at the top of the columns and tasks going down the first
column. You will have to tell JAWS to read these titles as you move from
cell to cell. Turn this JAWS feature on by the below info taken from the
JAWS help.

Excel Row and Column Title Reading
Defining Row and Column Titles
Before JAWS can read the titles of cells within a spreadsheet, you must
specify which columns and/or rows contain those titles. To define row
titles, move
to the column containing the row titles and press ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+R. To
define column titles, move to the row containing the column titles and press
ALT+CTRL+SHIFT+C.

Tip: You can also press INSERT+V to use the Adjust JAWS Verbosity dialog box
to define row and column titles.

To move around in the spreadsheet, you can use your 4 arrow keys.
Use the right and levt arrows to move across a row. When you get to the
last column of data in a row, press the home key to move back to the first
cell in that row, and then down arrow to move to the next row. Now you are
ready to move across the row to read it.

If you want to quickly get to the beginning of the spreadsheet, use
Control+home.

What I've provided you is very crude, but it should get you through the
document tonight.

I found some other JAWS commands, but I've never used them, so all I can do
is list them here for you and you are on your own.

JAWS provides keystrokes to read only the portion of the spreadsheet that is
visible on the screen. If Title reading is enabled, pressing these
keystrokes reads the appropriate title cells followed by the visible cells'
contents.

[Blind-Computing] Excel Question

2007-11-26 Thread Sharon
My boss has created an Excel document with about four or five columns and a
large number of rows. I do not know how to use Excel at all. I need to know
which actions in the document I am responsible for, and I need to read the
whole document and take notes on the important points. Is there a way to
read the document across? From beginning to end? Down, from beginning to
end?
What if I stop in the middle? I don't have to create these documents.
Tonight I just have to read them and do the things I need to do! Any help
would be much appreciated. Say all is not an option so I'm unsure what to
do, and I don't have time to read a textbook. I just need to get by for now.

recorder

For personal use I have an Olympus 3300 model of some type, and it is about
3 years old. I love it and use it all of the time to record quick notes,
lists of to do's, items to buy at the store, items to pack, etc. The DS 40
was purchased for me at work. I use it in a similar way that I use my
personal one, but I also use it to record brief items when a co-worker reads
them to me. I don't think that I could live with out either device. It is
my hope to soon learn how to interface my DS 40 to my computer and make use
of the index feature while recording a meeting. Of course this would entail
getting the other meeting participants to agree to letting me record the
meeting. But I'm not about to stir that pot until I learn to use the
indexing feature.

Hey Annette,

I have the Olympus Digital Voice Recorder 480Pc. I have had it for a couple
of years. I told my wife the other day that if anything ever happened to
it, I would have to replace it immediately. I use it for recording little
messages and notes throughout the day. I have even taken it to church and
recorded the preaching on it and then downloaded it to my computer. It is
surprising how good the quality of the sound is. Olympus really puts out a
good product. I can't wait to get one of the newer models. It sounds like
they are really neat.

See ya,
Donnie

It comes with a printed manual that contains a lot of diagrams. I gave up
scanning it. I had my husband set the time and read the directions on how
to record, play, and erase recordings. I keep telling myself that I'm going
to see if I can find an electric version of the manual on line, but just
haven't gotten around to it. This is why I haven't learned to interface it
with the computer, or use the indexing feature.

Annette, does it come with a tape or cd with instructions or a booklet to
scan? Thanks for your input. marilyn
